I have been breeding my parakeets for about 3 clutches in two females. I want to stop them from breeding as soon as the babies leave the nest. One clutch is about to leave. Can I just remove her box? I have a 8X10 room that I made for my parakeets. At the present time, I have about 30 birds in there with trees that are replaced as soon as the leave are all eaten, and several feeding spots, water spots, bird baths, and toys. I think that they love their room. I have had the room for about 2 years and have had very happy birdies.

You don't want to breed birds more than 2-3 times a year, and even 3 times is pushing it, especially if you want healthy birds. If you want them to stop then yes, you must remove the nestbox. It's possible that the hen could start a new clutch before the chicks leave so watch out for any new eggs when you go to take the nest down, and hope the hen doesn't try to lay anywhere else!
