Help - Are my conures nesting?

Hello!

I am new to Bird Board. I have questions about my sun conures. I am not sure if they are getting ready to breed or whats up with them. Any help I can get would be much appreciated. Here goes:

I have 3 sun conures. One I purchased about 3 years ago from a local pet store (Sunny Bird). Loved him so about 2 years ago I decided I wanted another, but for cost purposes purchased from a home breeder. Long story short got to the home breeder and broke my heart to split two siblings that were constantly together...so I bought both (Midori and Daiquiri). Now I have 3.

Life was good until today. I noticed that Sunny Bird and Daiquiri appear to be really aggressive towards me. They will take food from me, but will not let me touch them. This is very unusual for them. I also noticed that although all of the birds have been destroying the wooden box the pet store encouraged me to buy for them for over a year now, NEVER have any of them gone into it. Today I noticed Sunny Bird and Daiquiri inside of it moving around.

Could this mean they are a mating pair? Are they nesting? If so, what time frame is typical for them to lay eggs.

If they are breeding will my third bird, Midori be alright in the same cage with them?

Help!

Thanks so much.

Gracie

Wooden box... to me it sounds like the petstore sold you something you didn't need, and now it's causing breeding behaviors... so it's only natural for two of them to decide to use it as a place to nest.... Depending on who you ask, 2 years old may be about right or too young for one of the larger conures to be breeding....

Midori may or may not be fine being in the same cage....

Are you prepaired in case of emergencies? Do you know how to handfeed? Would you sell/give away the chicks or keep them? Do you have an extra large cage for once the chicks wean? If your not prepaired I suggest taking down the nestbox, and possibly separating the pair.
