Question nesting material?

i was just wanting to know whats the best nesting material! i have been told by huntress (who has helped me threw my every panic moment, thanks again!) to use pine shavings but when i went to the pet store the lady told me to try critter care recycled paper it comes in a pkg and is like 8 dollars for 14 litters or so i think has anyone heard or tried this? is this product okay to use for the babies of should i use the pine shavings as huntress suggested, ?? im hoping to get feed back from you to huntress! the lady that i spoke to told me that wood shavings harbor more bacteria and is more likely to get digested by the baby birds so she scared the hell out of me when i went up there so i'm askin now so i know where or not to go back and get the shavings! also what else should i throw in there so that they can chew on to help with breeding?? i have heard cardboard boxes and paper bags ect... are these okay and is there anything else? thanks again!!!!!angela

I've heard that pine or aspen is best.... and that the recycled paper is REALLY dusty and not good on animals lungs...

If you use any type of wood shavings, it's a good idea to freeze this stuff for 24-48 hours in case of bugs, and if it smells, to let it air out for a few days before use.

Good canadian Pine shavings at the feed store are the cleanest and best - Aspen is more expensive but a little better. The pet store of course will tell you the more expensive stuff is best. WOOD is best for chewing. The most natural.
