The breeder I was originally going to be getting my peach front conure from sold one peach front pair, and their other pair hasn't laid any eggs for a few years, so I think my chances of getting a bird from them are pretty slim. I'm now considering getting a peach front baby from Florida. Problem is I'm in Minnesota. They will ship the baby to me for a fee. Has anyone ever had any experience with this? How do you know if the breeder is being truthful? Anything special to look out for? Thanks!

That's the thing you don't know unless you personally know someone who has dealt with the breeder. It's more or less buyer beware.I have purchased site unseen and have had good and bad experience. My advice try and buy locally if you can.

I Just recently had a little cgc shipped into me. This was a great experience for me. I got an amazing bird at a super price from a good breeder. Once you tack on the 110 bucks for shipping via airlines it makes it closer to the price that you could get one for.

My suggestion, Go to birdbreeders.com, Look for a breeder that has tons of good feedback, answers emails quickly, willing to ship to you, have phone numbers and such as well. Personally I don't discourage buying a bird that has to be shipped. With that, if you find some local, that may be the better choice, since you cant handle/see in person the bird your going to purchase.

Here is some information I found on the internet about this breeder:

MySpace.com - J Birds Aviary - 28 - Female - TAMPA, Florida - www.myspace.com/jbirdsaviary

BirdBreeders.com :: The Pampered Parrot - 9207 Regents Park Drive, Tampa, FL 33647

Has anyone ever heard of them? I just emailed them with a ton of questions. I'll keep you posted!

I have had a bird shipped in to me and the airline lost her! They ended up putting her in overhead on the plane instead of cargo and didn't unload her. The plane was ready to take off across the country. Good thing I was in the cargo pick up pushing and pushing for someone to find her before they let the plane go. She was safe and is a wonderful girl. Hopefully this is a rare occurance. Everyone I have spoken too has had nothing but good things to say about the airlines....

As for finding a breeder... I used the equivalent of birdbreeders.com in Canada. Once I found a few breeders from that site, I went to their individual sites and read their comment page and tried to contact others who have used her. I had excellent success.

Good luck!

We recently got our Cape from a breeder in Indiana (we live in NJ) . We spoke on the phone and Emailed regularly. We found her on birdbreeders.com. We were very nervous about shipping but he sailed right thru it. If you cannot find the baby you want locally,
and you do some research, you should be fine.

Im waiting for a bird from Florida and nervous tooabout shipping. But noyone around here breeds btm and there arent many breeders of bigger birds. My friend tried to get a conure from a bird store this week and was told their sold out and having a hard time finding more babies.in New England and Im sure other areas most of the parrots are shipped in to the pet stores when their MUCH younger than a weaned one would be .that made me feel better

My friend breeds and ships Peach fronts here in Ohio. I trust her with my life, and my birds.
