There is hardly any way to make profit off of breeding birds. Once you add in the cost of cages, food, cage supplies, etc, some may only be lucky to get enough money back from selling chicks to pay for next years breeding season. You should never breed for profit as oftentimes this leads to problems down the road where you might try taking shortcuts in reducing expenses of money so that you can increase the amount of money coming in, which can make the whole situation worse.
If you are interested in money, please seak a job instead.

Well Miss now it all Monica, I have a full time job, just looking for info on selling more of my babies. Been breeding for 4 yrs as a hobby not for a job. I don't rely on sale for income, just looking for some few bucks for what I do. So instead of being a wise mouth offer help not snoddy words.

I'm sorry what I had typed up came out snobby to you, though maybe a thought on extra money would be to make your own bird toys and maybe even treats and sell them. I had no intention of offending you though there are many people who go into the pet breeding business only to try to gain more money, and one report I heard was a man trying to get richer off of selling canaries, and someone had wanted me to give him my extra cages. You could possibly even look into some old time hobbies and see if there is any way you can get money in that sense.

Thank you for your guys input. I am asking for comments, but it seems like I came off as if I want the easy way out. I am not looking for the fast buck but, just looking on how maybe I can benefit $ way too, I enjoy breeding to provide the best friendly pets for friends and familyl. Just was looking for ways I can expand it, but making toys is a good way, thank you for that idea.

SweetCindy:
I suggest that you first get your retail sales tax number and register with the state you live in. I'm not certain about the codes and restrictions in NY, but each state has specific codes. You may find that by the time your facility is inspected by the health department, fire department and whomever else gets involved, its not going to be feaseable. In most states, there are restrictions on breeding ANY animal in certain places and limitations on how many birds you can have at any one time. I'd call your general state information number and simply go from there. They will send you everything you need before you decide if that's the way you want to go. I live in Maryland. When I opened my first trim shop, it was a nightmare. I was often sorry I ever bothered registering with the State. It was a thousand times more profitable when I simply worked under the table. Oh well, you live you learn. I would suggest that you vet ALL parent birds and babies. That will protect the integrity of your aviary. After all, you will pass those expenses off to your customers. VERY few breeders even break even. In fact, I don't know of ANY breeder making money for the first 5 years. THE OUTLAW
