Breeding Quakers

I have 2 Blue Quakers that have bonded - I'm considering putting them in a small Aviary. I'm afraid that they might escape opening the door, so I was considering having their wings clipped, a breeder friend of mine said they won't breed if their wings are clipped. Is this a old wifes tale, seems strange most breeders keep their birds in small cages that they couldn't fly any way. Please advise Thanks

First off. They still can fly away if the wings are clipped it has happened over and over and over again. If they are clipped severly then they should not be in a flight cages. The thing about breeding with clipped wings depends on what that pair is used to. They use the wings for balance so fertility rates will drop if the wings are clipped as the male cannot get good balance while trying. So its not that they wont - Its more like they cant (very well).
Your best bet is to build a catch door on your Aviary. Put them in and leave them be.
