I looked at their website. The one thing that really concerns me is that all their adults are plucked. Having one or even a couple pickers is one thing...but all of them? It makes me wonder....

Tina, do you know if this is 'normal'?

I always wonder when people give one liner posts with a low low post count. I'd love to know WHY they're awesomesauce!

As for all the breeders being plucked as normative? Hard to say. She may have purchased them in that condition to begin with. Some males tend to over-preen mates, some hens excitedly over-preen brood spots. There are ways to fix it, but they don't always work.

I have like one male Maximilian that is always in his PJ's and has no tail feathers, I have a couple of others that pick somewhat through out the year while others just pluck only during nesting time. It's not uncommon but I looked on their site and there are a few in those photos that are plucked somewhat. They have toys to play with so it seems and always hard to say why they do what they do when it comes to plucking. So many reasons why.

Yes and I have hear you should never breed pluckers and that is PURE Nonsense because like the others have said sometimes its their MATE who plucks them and some became pluckers for various reasons and its not all genetic. Best to go meet the birds and the place!!
