Eclectus quiet, sits on non-viable eggs

Our eclectus has been sitting on non-viable eggs for about 2 weeks now. Her 'mate' is a sulphur-crested cockatoo. She eats and drinks normally, but she is sooo quiet! She usually is a chatterbox. I've been told that she may sit on the eggs for the full 28 days. I guess I shouldn't worry until the 28 days are up, but we sure do miss her talking to us.

The female I fostered started laying eggs and I couldn't get her to stop. I didn't worry about it until she stopped eating and drinking because she refused to leave the eggs. As long as your girl is behaving normally she should be fine. Hang in there. Hopefully, you will have your little chatter box back soon. Their little voices are so sweet.

I didn't think our eclectus was ever going to get off of her non-viable eggs, but she did today. 29 days -- her body knew when it was ready. Thanks everyone for your info . It really has helped me out.

Sorry you didn't get more responses the first time. I'm glad to hear everything worked out ok.

Are you worried she'll lay more eggs? How does your ekkie get along with the 'too.

They are getting along really, really well now. She seems to have had a slight personality change towards him. I got the eclectus as a plucked rescue who was really, really mean. We've had her four years, the cockatoo 2 years (also rescue). The cockatoo went in her cage today! I was totally surprised at that. She also is speaking a little more again, which is nice. Cockatoo never did anything but scream so far.

Thanks for your reply.
