Gorgeous! What is an opaline? I did a search and came up with lovebird (not this obviously) and budgies? He really doesn't look like budgie to me, so please educate me!

Some very striking birds! Do they not enjoy toys?

we have placed many foot toys and swings for them but they don't pay much attention to them.

They're all beautiful! gorgeous colors! Maybe you could try other types of toys? Shredding toys, maybe? Worth a try! :)

Yeah, seems some older birds just don't mess with toys too much, but just having some in the cage makes *us* feel better I guess.

The only way I can get my male to stay active when they are nesting is to give him foraging items or fresh branches. Then he'll work all day, taking time to feed the hen, of course... but he isn't just sitting there veggin.

Other names for the mutation Opaline includes Pearl in cockatiels, and Yellowsided in Green Cheek Conures. Some Opaline B&G Macaws have even been incorrectly called Pieds. The opaline mutation usually effects colorations on the back and/or front of the bird, and is usually (if not always) sex-linked.

I've noticed with bourkes (I don't know how similar they may be to red rumps, although I've heard red rumps are more aggressive) that they usually aren't big on toys to begin with, but boy do they love to fly! I still gave them toys if they ever wanted to grab onto one and let it swing, or perhaps to chew on.

isma, your red rumps look great! Thanks for sharing the pics!
