are all fledgelings very active?

Are all fledgelings very active and playful or do they settle down some as they get older? I'm just curious if my bird is a high activity personality or if this is just a phase she's going through. I don't mean just the flying, but also runs around like crazy attacking stuff and very interactive. thanks in advance.

Pretty much they're all like that. Then they grow up, get lazy and fat, and so forth.

...wait, that's me.

oh thank God.. I was hoping you'd say that. like me too, don't worry. She's like a 2 year old looking for danger wherever she can find it. Good thing there's only one of her. Hopefully you're only kidding about yourself and the birds really do get lazier when they get older. I think I need a harness for her in the house!

During that learning to crash, oops, fly stage I find mine are off the planet. The focus is all on flying. The Alexandrines are the largets birds so far that I've raised and I learned within a day just to let them fly for 5-10 minutes begore they're ready to come over and have a feed. Within a few days they are now landing safely 9 times out of 10.

If you're still feeding my advice is let them have a bit of fly time to get it out their system then they should hopefully come down and decide yep, ok I'm hungry now.

thanks Abby, I hate it when she crashes it's the same feeling I got when my kids started running before walking and fell. You're right about the fly time first, she won't eat in the morning till she's had time to fly. She will only forage for food in the morning will not let me feed her anything by spoon. She's getting pretty good with the landings but she just wants to go go go. She won't eat formula anymore eats lots of soft foods, veggies, sprouts, but still begs for polenta, 7 grain cereal, oatmeal afternoon and evening. I cooked up tons of food from the Eckie site which she refused so now I've been making extra healthy vegan food for her (I mean for me) so I finally have someone to share my food with.

Oops gotta fly again "Hey More food NOW" BYE BYE!!

I just close my eyes. When I open them, I get more grey hair. I ignore the crashing sounds.

hoping eventually she will develop a healthy fear of danger? she likes trying to land on the slippery, curved back of an empty rocking chair. My adult flighted birds don't even try that. She will try again and again too. All this thrill seeking and I thought she was ready for her avian adventures mediana, nope hate it, want the HQ single flight back, still a baby mama, feed me, cuddle me.
