Exclamation Please tell me it's not possible

I have recently adopted an IRN and Gold-Mantled Rosella. They are both still babies (less than 1 yr old), they have always been together in the cage. I was told male and female, but no DNA done. Please tell me the 2 can't breed. If this is possible I will have to seperate them. At this point in time they love having each other there and as long as they aren't fighting or being aggresive I hope it's ok to keep them together. Please give me any advice any of you may have.

I would put 2 cages right next to each other, until the hen is old enough to breed. That gives you time to research what you need to do when the time is right.

at this point they're probably too young, and i also think that they can't interbreed - monica would have the answer for you

I have heard of hybrids of both species, but not together... Being that Rosellas come from Australia, and Indian Ringnecks from, well, India, I'd say that it's most likely impossible.

Oh thank goodness. I will keep a close eye on them and as long as they continue to get along then they can play together.

They are completely different species, genus etc so they won't breed.

I might better just seperate them to be on the safe side. I don't want babies either way.
My luck we would have a whole new species out there, lol.

Your birds are just babies and enjoy each others company - I would not separate them unless you were to see mating behavior later

I am not sure of their ages, I was told less than 1 yr. But as I was watching them eat together, I noticed the IRN (male) regurgitating (sp) for the Rosella (female). He was feeding her for several minutes. I have seen no breeding going on, yet. So, I might better have another cage set up just in case.
