Question How many of you have ruined jewelry courtesy of your birds?

Last night was my first casualty. I was putting my QP to bed and he sneaked a bite at my amethyst birthstone ring. He didn't just snap the stone out of the set, he snapped it in half! Then I panicked thinking he would swallow it so I tried to pry his beak open and turn him upside down. He was determined to keep his prize but when I set him on top of the cage he spit the broken piece out. I was happy he was safe and sad he destroyed a Christmas gift my hubby had given me.

I think he has even bit a tiny diamond off my wedding ring. I have one missing.

I watch "my precious", diamond wedding ring, like a hawk, but Poppy has lunged for it once or twice. He did loosen a stone on one of my mom's rings and with precision removed one of her bracelets.

Hi Tammy -- sorry to hear about your ring...glad your QP is okay. I have to be very careful with my parrotlet (the budgies could care less). I have a couple tops that she loves to attack. One has a small beading and she tries to latch on and tear the beads off. I try not to wear it when I know she'll be with me but I forget at times and she comes at me like a flash. I stopped wearing necklaces for that reason.

I can't have earings anymore since my birds are too quick to remove pierced earing without first taking the butterfly off. Ears tend to bleed after having an earing ripped out.

same here. I stopped wearing necklaces except the kind with a leather string. My GCCs still try to bite the string in half, it will just take them a little longer. I also started wearing a terry wrist band to protect my bracelets from them.
My daughter has a shirt with rhinestones but everytime she wears it, the birds bite off the stones.

It's only been the last few days that Lily has taken an interest in my tunnel, it's a wooden tunnel... maybe she's decided it's a toy. She's grabbed my lip piercing a couple of times too, but its easy enough to pry her beak off.

I have several nice gold earrings with beak marks in them.... adds to the artsy look for some, but others just are never the same.

my first and only jewelry incident, laying on my bed, feet propped up, Muffin my nanday, went for my gold ankle bracelet. Ends up, all she did was flatten one link, but she went for it every time she could find it, so hubs gave her his college ring, and the fun began. This was her treat every afternoon, she would throw it around the bed for hours, and screek like it was attacking her.. what fun.
