Cosmo HATES the shower and being misted with a water bottle but he LOVES his little birdy bath tub I keep in his cage! He takes a bath in it about twice a day although he doesn't do a very good job! When I see him in his bath tub I always tell him "make sure you get behind your ears!" He just looks at me like OK mom!

Have you ever tried running the vacuum cleaner in close proximity to him? It's amazing how birds decided to bathe when they hear a vacuum cleaner. Mine (I have 2 Eclectus parrots) hate showers too, but as soon as they hear the vacuum, they start spreading their wings and doing the "rain" dance. That's when I can mist them and they'll actually enjoy it!

Hiccup looks like he's trying to do the 2 step in his water bowl, which is about 6 inches across and 3 inches deep. I do spray him and then he gives me the "look'. On night he took a bath at bedtime, nutty bird. I will have to try the shower again and see how that goes. Years ago when I had my Amazon, Vilas, he could hardly wait to get into the shower and spread his beautiful wings. He even had his own toothbrush!

My birds are all different when it comes to baths. My toucanets generally take a bath at least every few days. My cockatiels almost never do, they don't really like baths, but they do like showers. My finches generally bathe AT LEAST three times a day, I'm pretty sure they believe themselves to in fact be ducks.

I have have 11 parrots and 3 or 4 times a week, weather permitting, I roll their cages and stands/gyms outside for shower time with the hose. The only grump in the bunch is the Hyacinth Macaw...she sits like a lump and grumps at me.

Give my birds water each and every day. Thet go especially crazy when it rains instead of hiding or looking for shelter they try to get as wet as possible. It does not make a difference if it is a shritz bath from spray bottles or from the garden hose or if they go head first and toss back the water from their bowl just give them water, and more water. It is important to remember that birds if wet should have enough time to dry out their plumage before sunset so that they don't get chilled. Just like us humans, how many times did our parents say don't go out with wet hair you'll catch a cold....same thing only feathers not hair. Oh and how they love to preen themselves afterwards. I love especially the preening of the longest tail feathers the most. A most elegant arch of feather display.
