craigslist is the worst thing you could posssibly put on bird board! it has multiple spams and unreasonable offers. Craigslist is a ripoff!

I adopted my conure from craigslist and would definitly use craigslist again. I know there are a lot of scams, resellers etc..., but there are also honest people that just cannot care for thier birds anymore, its great exposure for those birds needing homes. There are some unreasonable offers but what can you do..., Im about to report a cockatoo listed in NY on Kijiji.com, the poor thing is obviously abused, plucked chest and belly, cage extremely too small, and in the pic the cage is actually in front of a radiator! unbelievable.... and the owner cannot even spell cockatoo and has that poor bird listed for $600.00, i emailed him pleading with him to give the bird to a rescue organization and to no surprise havent gotten a response back... i will report this to the authorities, maybe they can do a house check and get that bird out of there. Sorry for the long post, i was just soo saddened to see those pictures.

I never understood the need to post links to Craigslist ads.

I was able to get my Umbrella cockatoo on craigslist and I am glad I did, his feet were in bad shape and he had never been to a vet and now he is happy and healthy. I have gotten his feet in great shape and you would never know his feet were neglected. Yes there are good things to craigslist and bad things, use your common sense and you can possible save or make a birds life a lot happier.

i never go on craigslist but if you guys didnt post an ad on the board i would not have saved Apollo the macaw from another bad home. It does put the neglected birds into peoples sight. So thanks guys for putting the ad up. Apollo is great. And so far were very happy with him.

I have *cough* several birds. I've gotten all but 2 of my birds from craigs list. One of them was being well-cared for and he is just the most awesome bird! The others had all been neglected in one way or another, from severe plucking issues and being cage bound, to improper diets. But the people I dealt with were mostly up front about what their birds were eating and whether they had been cage bound, plucking etc. But I wasn't looking for perfect birds. I'm drawn more to ones that need a better life. Most had no toys in their cages either. I've gotten the greatest joy from watching my birds eyes pin the first time they ate fresh foods, watching them curiously but cautiously grasp a toy, watching them calm down as they realize they won't get yelled at or smacked for screaming, watching them enjoy a bath for perhaps the first time in their lives. Yes, I would definitely use craigs list again. But for a person who wants a very tame and healthy bird, I would ask a ton of questions first, check their vet reference and observe the bird as much as possible before forking over any money.

I got my caique from CL, but it ended up to be a post from a friend of a friend. So I would've found out about him anyway.

There are tons of great pets on CL that need homes, and also some bad people....

THAT SAID... This poll isn't about whether CL is a good or a bad thing.

The question is, "Should folks be posting here about CL ads they see."

Personally, I don't care either way. I mean, if I don't want to read a post, I don't. People can post about whatever they want. It doesn't have to affect me.

Just like the flaggers, or the folks who flame others on CL. If they don't want to read it, DON"T!

Just my two cents.

I agree with Flappucino, if you dont want to read something - you dont have to. if you dont want to, fine . But if it gets the bird out there so people know they can help it if they want - okay. I know alot of people here have gotten birds from CL or other similar sites like Kijiji - i personaly got Cookie and Toc off of Kijiji, and they came from a pretty good home with a lady who was too sick to care for them anymore. Not everyone out theres a bad parrot owner or someone trying to make money off of their pets.
