Wow pretty much everyone that's voted so far is GCC biased lol

well it's also true that there are many types of conures and only one Quaker, and Quakers are illegal in some states. I'm just hoping I can get input from both sides.

I'm guessing that's how it will happen. When I get him/her, you will hear about it, don't worry. I'll probably start one or more threads in the weeks leading up to getting the bird and the weeks after we get him. Luckily, the local bird shop carries both Quakers and GCCs so I can get some hands on time with both of them. And the people there are VERY smart and helpful.

Ok, I'll sound off on the subject...but I'm quaker biased as my quaker was my first parrot and I adore him. I do not have a gcc, but I've come close to getting one many times. My quaker is an awesome talker, he's funny and cute, and cuddly...but only with me. He is not at all cage aggressive, BUT he is definitely a one person bird. No one but me can handle him...not even my husband, who was as hands on for the first year of his life as I was. As others have said, it all depends on the individual bird for sure.

Since you currently have a cockatiel, I would recommend the GCC. I have a Quaker a Brown-throated Conure, and a Cockatiel. Although my quaker was hand raised and is extremely tame, he picks on my cockatiel whenever he gets a chance. If I let him get too close he likes to bite her tail feathers or yank them out. I think that the conures may be less prone to bullying. My conure doesn't mess with the cockatiel.
