A GCC! The perfect bird! relatively quiet, playful, cute, sweet and friendly, entertaining, active.. theres so many good things to list about them! not to mention all the beautiful mutations! Sorry, i'm a little biased.. hee hee. I'm sure Quakers make great companion pets, too. when i first was researching parrots, a Quaker was qhat i wanted, and probably what i would have gotten if my parents had not rehomed Cookie and given her to me as an xmas gift (and i'm SOOO glad they did) ..

But it really depends on what you're looking for in a companion parrot. Give us some more details. I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions!

Well I know it depends what I'm looking for but please vote on the poll any way! :) I would LIKE a talker, but not desperately. I want something cuddly (unlike my tiel). I want something that would be my bird, but wouldn't be mean to others. I would want something that wouldn't be TOO cage terrotorial :( which is a "thing" with Quakers. That help???

Well, i voted GCC's are better overall, but like i said, im a bit biased :P

Quakers are known to be great talkers, but some GCC have been known to talk, too. (not every bird, no matter what kind, is guarantted to talk, though) Cookie (my GCC) is VERY cuddly... i'm not sure whether Quakers are or not, though. Any type of bird can become a "one person bird" you just need to properly socialise any bird to make sure this doesn;t happen. I've heard Quakers can be cage aggressive, and i dont think GCC's are known for this, but i could be wrong...

Any ways, you can see I'm giving you good points on GCC"s and not Quakers... Don't worry, i'm sure someone else will come in with the pro's on Quakers sometime soon.. :P ..

My suggestion would be to find breeders ( or rescues) and meet both kinds of birds. Maybe on will end up picking yoU! Oh, and whichever you decide to go with, make sure you do LOTS of research first!

I have a GCC and she is so funny & silly. She is 15 wks old. I also have a quaker and he is also funny & silly. He is 14 wks old. I've had them both since babies and I hand fed them.
They both love to play and be in the middle of things. Both love attention. Of the two the conure is the one that is territorial about her cage. The quaker not at all. Also my quaker is more of the snuggler, although the conure can be too,the Quaker is more. He is also not "nippy" like my GC.
Like its been said before...it all just depends on the bird.
I love them both either way.
