How many birds?
1 Jenday, 1 Sun, and 9 Budgies
Also important to mention that I have 2 kids.

How much out of cage time?
I try for several hours.

Do your birds spend time out of their cages together on separate play stands?
The conures hang out a lot on their play stand and spend some time on my shoulders, too.

How do you spend individual time with each bird and what do you spend your time doing together?
I work on snuggles and am starting to work on some trick training. I take each one off the stand separately. Moki loves running around under the bed sheets, so sometimes when I'm reading in bed he gets to do that, too.

Do you have a bird room devoted to your birds, or are they out in the open space of your home, like the living room, kitchen, family room, etc?
Currently the play stand is in the great-room, which is where we all are most of the time. Their cage is in our bedroom so they can go to bed early and not be bothered by noise.

The budgie cages are currently on a counter in the hallway because there is some nice indirect sunlight for them. My daughter plays with the tame ones daily. The others are just happy to be left to their own company. Sometimes I let some of the budgies play on the playstand when the conures are not using it.

How many birds?
14 - 9 Cockatiels, 4 Budgies and 1 Quaker Parrot. (GCC's comin' home in a few weeks)

How much out of cage time?
2-3 hours.

Do your birds spend time out of their cages together on separate play stands?
Well, I have 9 Cockatiels and 2 Budgies in my room, so all 11 of them get 'out time' in my room, there's 2 more Budgies in the lounge room so they get out time in there and Keiko (Quaker Parrot) gets out time in another bedroom.

How do you spend individual time with each bird and what do you spend your time doing together?
I try and spend at least over an hour with each. The 2 Budgies in the lounge room aren't tame, but I'm still working on them with that, one of the Cocktiels isn't tame, so he doesn't like hanging out with me, and Keiko, I spend the same amount of time with him. Usually we watch Foxtel, listen to music, or just play with lots of toys.. or what they think is 'toys' sometimes, which is remote control buttons, school work etc.

Do you have a bird room devoted to your birds, or are they out in the open space of your home, like the living room, kitchen, family room, etc?
9 Cockatiels and 2 Budgies in my room, 2 Budgies in the lounge room and Keiko is in another bedroom - I WISH I had a bird room though.

How many birds?
Three- 1 lorikeet, 1 cockatiel, 1 budgie

How much out of cage time?
Generally 7- 9 hours a day if I'm not busy with other things, or going out anywhere.
(About an hour in the morning, 6-8 hours in the afternoon/ evening)

Do your birds spend time out of their cages together on separate play stands?
Ah... this is complicated. The cages are right next to each other- lorikeet cage and cockatiel/budgie cage. The lorikeet and cockatiel travel on top of both cages, but neither is allowed in the others' cage. The budgie doesn't like coming out of her cage and I keep the door closed so that the lorikeet can't get in to harass her. I let the tiel back in there periodically to eat/ drink/ relax when he wants to. I have to make sure the lorikeet doesn't nip the tiel's toes when he is on top of her cage and she is inside it. The tiel will often sing to the lorikeet which winds her up. The lorikeet will also reach through the bars to preen/kiss the budgie who regurgitates back, so I have to prevent this every so often.

How do you spend individual time with each bird and what do you spend your time doing together?

The lorikeet and cockatiel both spend time with me whenever they want; if they both want it, they get a shoulder each.
My tiel spends the mornings with me staring at himself in the mirror while my lory preens and makes a lot of 'morning noise.' The tiel is happy to sit for hours just talking, dancing and whistling to each other, playing peekaboo and making kissy noises while my lorikeet never stays still for long- if I don't take her outside to climb trees and eat flowers, she will be up my shoulder, down my shoulder, onto my arm, pouncing on my fingers, playing games with me, making silly noises and finding new things to play with. The budgie doesn't like interaction (she constantly screeches when I put my hands near her) but I get her out every few days to hand feed her grass seed and give her kisses on the beak.

Do you have a bird room devoted to your birds, or are they out in the open space of your home, like the living room, kitchen, family room, etc?

My birds cages are in my bedroom- and yes it is devoted to my birds! Their cages block natural light from the room (I am ghost-colored) and everything is bird proofed. This is where I spend all my time at home so this is where they always are- under my supervision.

They keep me on my toes!

How many birds?

4. Female Ekkie, female Nanday, Unknown GCC, male Budgie.

How much out of cage time?

Lexi (Ekkie) comes to work with me a lot so spends the whole day on a playstand there. While we are out or at work the cages are kept closed. When we are home the doors are open and unless we're cooking there's usually a bird on at least one of us. Squibly the GCC spends a lot of time in Lexi's cage, preening her and eating her food! The nanday is a little more reserved. Spends most of the time in her own cage and doesn't really come out unless she's on Luke (her favourite). I have a playstand in the lounge for the conures. Lexi isn't allowed to be on since she falls off it quite often. Her cage is very low to the ground so she can have he door open without a worry, although i have walked into the room to find her 2 metres off the floor on the outside of Squibly's cage! She will usually just sit on the edge of the cage calling for attention though. The budgie hasn't been out of his cage much, as he can't really leave the room. I have had him in the lounge a few times which is probly a bit naughty.

Do your birds spend time out of their cages together on separate play stands?

They have the opportunity to be together. Squibly and Lexi are a bit of a mismatched couple, but she is quite gentle with him and he is the boss in their 'relationship.' The nanday prefers to be with Luke than the other birds, she can be quite flighty around them. The budgie is still in quarantine so hasn't met anyone yet, but i am hoping he and Squibs will get along. If they don't then we will cross that bridge when we get to it!

How do you spend individual time with each bird and what do you spend your time doing together?

Everything. We go on little 'birdie road trips,' Squibly can't fly so he gets to go outside in the garden a lot, playing while watching tv, the conures love being in bed with us in the early mornings snuggling under the blankets and getting head scratches, showers, time with Lexi while i'm at work, the list goes on. We have busy lives but always find time for the birds and take them with us when possible. My pets are probably the most important thing in my life besides work.

Do you have a bird room devoted to your birds, or are they out in the open space of your home, like the living room, kitchen, family room, etc?

Both. They have their own room since there's only Luke and I living in a three bedroom house! 3 of them are in one room and the budgie is in the 'guest' room until he's cleared. There's a playstand in the lounge as well.

How many birds?
17. 1 BCC, 1 Senegal, 1 Red Belly Feamale, 1 Moustache Parakeet, 1 Alex. Parakeet male, 1 Quaker, 1 S2 Female, 1 African Grey, 1 Eastern Rosella, 2 Lovebirds black masked & peach faced, 1 Tiel (newest fid), 5 budgies-1 english fancy & 4 fancy.
How much out of cage time?
Only the budgies are in a cage. They were a rescue from a pet store and are not hand tame. I plan on modifying my aviary so I can release them in to it but at this point in time they are cage bound :(.
I have an indoor aviary that is 14'x12' with a huge bay window that all the other parrots live in. They are all full flighted except my grey so they all keep to eachother or interact as they wish. A very rewarding experience to behold and be a part of.

Do your birds spend time out of their cages together on separate play stands? They spend 24 hrs in an aviary where they can fly around and interact. I do however take out my S2 and Grey for some one on one cuddle time. My senegal will often sneak out and fly on to my shoulder when i am cleaning and changing their water. S/He loves hanging out on me or my wife.
They all spent time in a cage at first in or outside of the aviary so they would get used to eachother. When I add a new member ie. my tiel, they will spend a month outside of the aviary in a cage, then I will move the cage into the aviary and see how the others react. I leave the fid in the cage for whole day for it's own protection, then I will slowly introduce it to the others by leaving the cage door open when I am in there. Eventually I will just leave the door open over night and the fid will just come and go as it wants eventually never to go back in. I have doen this with 5 of them so far with out fail. They are all young and I know their tollerence to new members is going to get worse and worse as time goes on.

How do you spend individual time with each bird and what do you spend your time doing together?
As much time as my job allows.

Do you have a bird room devoted to your birds, or are they out in the open space of your home, like the living room, kitchen, family room, etc?

As I mentioned before I have an indoor aviary. I converted my sunk-in living room into a caged paradise for my fids. They have hanging perches, plethora of toys and feed/water dishes a huge bay window and enough room to fly around all they want. I have had a couple of incidences where one of the smaller birds decided to test out the larger birds and lost but nothing seriouse as they all know who is who and who is capable of what. I get a kick out of it every time my peach fiaced fischer shows my S2 that she is in charge. :)

It's my childhood dream come true. I just worrie about what's going to happen when they all hit puberty AT THE SAME TIME . I might have to convert one of my spare rooms into another aviary. I have a few years yet before I have to seriously commit to worrying about that. Until then pure bliss.
