Thumbs up My first birdshow! (pics)

GlendaNS and I met at the Central Indiana Caged Bird Show yesterday in Indianapoliis. I took my camera, but only took a few pics. I was too busy looking at the birds and all the toys!
Here are the only pics I took.
Glenda said that this baby was blushing. See his pink face? He didn't want me to hold him.

These guys were showing off their harnesses like their owner was selling. Maxie got one. (harness, not B&G) Wonder what she will think of it?

Whiteboy got a new toy. He thought it would be better without a wooden ring on it, so that came off in the first five minutes. He still likes it because of the metal ring that needs to be removed. He loves a challenge.

We got to see some Toos and other Macaws and lots of little birds. I liked a whitefaced lutino cockatiel, but I held back. Eight tiels is enough.

We went to a really nice bird store called Parrot Fever after that. They have beautiful well cared for birds for sale there. I had to hold myself back once again. That was a fun day, but my own birds were glad when I got back home to them. I put everything that I was wearing, including my shoes, in the washer and washed up before I touched my fids.

Bird shows are fun! I know this one wasn't very big, but it was cool. It's hard to see all those birds and not take one home.

Bird shows are exciting. I went to bird shows for two years before I finally decided to bring home a baby. I would buy a little here and a little there every time I went. Iris's (CAG) cage is 1 yr older than him... LOL
I wish many of them were a lot bigger. Every one that I've attended never had it all. See, I show miniature pinschers and if you go to a dog show, usually, there are vendors every where. If you cant find it at a dog show you wont find it. I just wish the bird shows were a lot more like that.

that's the hardest part.... i'm always proud of myself, when i make it with "only" a million toys that we "really needed" and some perches since "they were soo cool" and "some other goodies i simply couldn't leave"

thanks for the photos - whiteboy is just simply adorable.... let me know if he ever needs some fresh mountain air

Nazir's - You have some seriously strong will power if you bought your cage a year before you got your bird! I still can't get my desire for a Congo African Grey out of my mind. If I ever get one, I want it to be an older one that needs a home. I also love MinPins!
Bee- I'll let Whiteboy know that you said he could vacation with you some time. I don't think he's seen that part of the country.

tielmama: Yes, I just wanted to make sure that I was absolutely sure. If you know what I mean. Parrots are not like bringing home any other pet. They live much, much longer... Fortunately, I educated myself enough to know that before hand. I am now sure that I made the right decision. I wanted an African Grey for the past 9 years. It wasn't until last month that I finally took the leap. I figured that I wasn't getting any younger and it was finally a perfect time in my life to do it. So yes, the cage sat in my one day to come bird room way before I decided to bring home my CAG. Iris has so much stuff that I've purchased over the months (prior to him coming home). The worst part is, once Iris was brought home, I went out and purchased much, much more--As if I didn't already have enough.

Also, thus far I have not had any issues with Iris being afraid of new toys in the cage because I have just exposed Iris to everything very commonly. And as common as I made it to be is just as common as Iris has accepted any and everything.

In regards to the min pins. My website is : Nazir's Miniature Pinschers

We had a lot of fun! I got to hold a Greenwing Macaw! He was a LOT bigger than Maxie. They also had a sweet M2 that let me pet her. She was 9 years old. Lee, I still loved that little Too that told you to, "Get outta here!" I forgot my camera for the bird show.

I was very impressed with the Parrot Fever store. The birds looked wonderful and they were all very well socialized. The store was very clean too! I just knew you were going home with an Eckie! He liked you!

Maxie put on her harness today and we went outside for a long walk. She got to sit in the pear tree and eat the buds. I wonder if persimmons are safe for birds? We have a lot of them. Maxie did really well with the harness!!!! I think she liked it. She lets me do anything to her. I could dress her up in doll clothes and she wouldn't mind. Anyway, I took lots of pictures! I will try to get some posted soon.

I stopped in Bloomington and bought the perch I was looking for in Indy for Stella, also found a bag of almonds. I didn't want Stella to feel left out. She was afraid of her new perch, but Maxie and I acted like we were eating it. She HAD to come over for a taste. LOL She wasn't afraid of it after that.

I am so glad we got to meet! It was a fun day!!!

A VERY fun day indeed. I told my mom and sister about the baby boy Ekkie. I loved how he was sounding off the whole time. There was a pretty bird that was green with yellow streaks all over it, and then a bright red mask! I never asked what it was, but I liked that too. I talked to it, and it came over to me. I love it when they do that instead of ignoring me. He was bigger than a budgie, but kinda shaped like one. Maybe it was a grass keet? I forgot to take my camera in Bird Fever.
That little Too was hilarious at the bird show. I forgot that he told me to Get outa here! We thought he was one of the Sulfur Cresteds. We felt sorry for a pair of U2's that was for sale. The male was at the front of the cage protecting his girl friend, who was sitting to the back with her beak open ready to hiss. We will have to do that again some time.
