What scares me about this, is that it's probably a lot worse than they're letting on. Can you imagine the lawsuits that would come from a full admission of the dangers of teflon coated cookware?

Yep you have the picture now...All that manufacturers of pots and pans need to do is STOP making EVERYTHING with non stick in it. I mean even our clothes???Good Lord!!! It's going to take a long time I'm afraid, but it's got to come OFF the market and ASAP in my opinion!

Well, it sounds scary, but I want to see the actual study and its data before I believe any of it. After all, it could be just like the "serial killer epidemic" of the 80's where the FBI severly overprojected the amount of deaths by serial killers. Guess what it got them (even though it was a stark distortion of the truth)? Tons, and tons of funding. Same thing with the whole "cell phones cause cancer" thing.

Gimme the original study data. Then I'll believe them.

I have to agree with the last post. I know teflon is bad. Period. BUT I do not believe everything I read. I would like to read a serious study in full.

First eggs were good, then evil, then good, then evil, then good. Get the picture? Even things well studied seem to change.

I have a couple teflon pans in my house. I use them on occasion for low temp cooking. But hey, I have a bird room with it's own ventillation. Would I burn a pan in my bird room? No. Would I burn a pan in my kitchen? No. Would I burn a stainless steel pan? No.

I watch my cooking. I don't leave my things unattended. I have a small child in the house.

I agree teflon is probably not the safest cooking pan in the world to use. But pretty much everything these days is bad for our birds or ourselves.

There was an ad on BB from google that had a video about an avian vet that was studying about the effects of teflon and birds and said that it does not have any effects, but that smoke from cooking butter, oil, etc did. Here's the link about it-- http://www.teflon.com/NASApp/Teflon/...ord_birds.html

But of course I make sure my bird is in another room when cooking just to be safe.

teflon debate

What cookware are you using? I love my teflon. About a year ago, some were saying that aluminum cookware causes alzheimer's. What's the truth?

Cool Hmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!

Well from listening to the Avian vet she says its not. Hmmmm So many people say it is and so many says it aint so what are you suppose to believe. I guess the best thing is to keep the birds out of the kitchen when cooking and have that exaust fan running when you do cook.. Thanks for the link
