Laurie:

Yes, I agree. Try weighing him again tomorrow morning the normal time. I think you must have weighed him incorrectly. I've done it once or twice myself.

Tinkerbell's weight is great! You must taste mighty good.

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out why Buck is the only one who can't seem to gain his weight back ............... since all of his blood tests came back fine, the only conclusion I have come up with is his pellet diet. I left out the safflower mix this past time, and added the veggies/fruit mix. The macaws seem to love it, but I don't think Buck likes it much! It is hard to know who is eating what as they are all loose during the day, and every one eats out of everyone's dishes............... I have the safflower mix on order this time and hope that's it
As far as forcing that bugger to eat, he won! He ain't eating what he doesn't want to eat

Laurie:

Is he maintaining weight or still losing? If he's still losing, something just isn't right.

Laurie:

I'm relieved. Well, once again we have an approaching storm, so it will be interesting to see if his little cockatoo weather alert sytem has anything do do with it. And, please try to remember how stressed everyone has been for the last week and how HOT for many of those days. Hey, YOU probably lost some weight!

Thanks Jodi!
That is the reason I post my weights - to remind others to weigh their babies!

Excellent, Laurie. I know that this must take a real load off of your mind.

Skye's first vet visit yesterday

Well it was the almost every morning weighings that made me realise Skye had lost weight. I bought a digital scale about a month ago, and she weighed 380 grams (different from the 410/20 grams on the older scale). I was a bit surprised, but she seemed stable at that weight, then she dropped to 374, then a couple of days ago, she weighed 364/66 grams. So she went to the vet yesterday in her travel cage. Luckily there were fresh droppings on the clean newspaper and the vet said one of them was abnormal, not formed properly. Two were normal, two were watery, but still had some form about them, but one had no form to it at all. He is testing it and I have to closely monitor her weight (which I was doing anyway) and she may be on antibiotics by tomorrow. This morning she weighed 368 and she has started to eat much better since yesterday morning (before the vet visit). Maybe she is getting over "whatever" it was herself?
