Question Need help...on the search for the perfect stand

for my livingroom!

I've been through so many.....

I want a "T" type stand for my livingroom that meets the following criteria:

-Big Tray that cannot be pooped off of.
-Adjustable height tray, or one that is low enough for Tiki not to be able to climb down on to. She gets mucked up or breaks the tray, or both.
-Not huge, but big enough for Tiki.
-Won't break within 2 months. Must be strong, Tiki's Heavy!
-A Strong Bowl set up that she can stand on without breaking/snapping in two after a week. Preferably something that has or can have SS bowls or nice crocks.

Is that so much to ask?????????

Here's the problem. I've tried or looked at all the stand types that I can find easily on the internet. I need something for the living room, which receives guests and has carpeting. Tiki doesn't spend much time on her stand in there, really only time enough to go potty, or eat, have a breather or be on time out (for being bad or getting to fresh with me ). I can't have a hanging gym in there due to where her stand has to be, and I can't have a huge manzanita thing in there because I need space for both big birds, and that's where the little birds are too - - - besides, the manzanita gym I have, she poops off of anyway! (she doesn't like the poop in HER space)

Types looked at/or have had, and that have been rejected :

- U stand : she's busted two of these so the "U" becomes unstable, also, she poops off the edge, and can climb down onto the tray (and get into discarded food and feeces AND poop from there too).
-Java trees or parrot playgyms from petstockroom or the like - she CAN poop off of these, AND get down.
-Manzanita/Ribbonwood Trees - She has a couple, CAN get down, DOES poop on the capet. These are better suited to outside, or other areas of my house.
-Standard T Stand - Tray is too close to perch/too small, DOES poop onto the carpet and walks on the tray (has broken two of these as well by walking on the tray - not to mention she now has free shots at the floor).
-Ring Stand or Similar - Poops off the side, climbs onto ring and can pull most any down by being a clown while in that position. On the Ring stands that have other bars/perches she can also climb down onto the tray.

NOW - I've found a stand, but there's still an issue!!! For those of you that have been to Feathered Friends in San Diego, you might recall the "T" stands they have in their birdroom. They are big but not giant, have a nice oversized, VERY hight adjustable tray, and are of powder coated, all metal construction with a manzanita or ribbonwood branch as the perch attached to the metal T. She can't get down, she can't destroy it, and the tray is big enough that she can't poop off the sides. PERFECT right??? Wrong.....

They haven't carried these in a couple of years. They keep saying that they are scheduled to carry them again (guess there was a quality issue with hardware holes not matching up?), but I have yet to see them stock them, and have left my phone number with the store for when they come in. And when/if they do?? The cost is $170.

HAS ANYONE SEEN the PERFECT stand? Where they are in stock and a reasonable price??? Please help! I can't find them on the net anywhere or in any other stores.

(and if you're wondering about Niki.... she's one of those that really doesn't climb around on her playgym.... she just eats them. That's easily fixed with a fresh dowel.... so she does perfectly fine on Tiki's rejected T and U stands in the livingroom (VERY nice ones with SS trays and bowls!))

Every Scarlet I've met has been very mischevious, and had a strong desire to roam about. I'll be impressed to see the stand that can contain Tiki.

My suggestion would be to try and make one out of PVC that is too wide for your baby to get a grip on and slide down. You could make it out of a closet rod and then just cover it with PVC, and then perhaps use a hot water tank pan as a poop tray(available at home supply stores) or a large Pizza pan available at Restaurant supply stores. You could cut the tray to fit the width of the dowel and then support it with hose clamps or even a bigger piece of PVC on the underneath, or sandwich it between two pieces of pvc..

Perhaps a simple t stand could be retro fit with some of these items to create the 'perfect' environment?

Nope. Unfortunately not, thanks though! That one looks strong enough, and I have considered it, but it has the side things that she can slide down and get onto the tray...... OR she can stand right on the edge, and you guessed it..... POOP on my carpet.

LivingFiction .... me too.

LissaKokoKiwiKaseySam - That's my next route if I cannot find something before the stand she's on now goes totally into the trash. Thank you for the pizza tray suggestion, hadn't thought of that!

Dana:

I suggest you stop wasting any more cash and simply call Wayne Gagne of Wayne's Parrot Stuff. He is no longer making playgyms, but if you whine real hard and beg him on bended knee, perhaps he'll consider making you a Bottlebrush gym. I have 3 here. They are pricey (good things always are, after all) messy for the first month (your bird will delight in removing the fun outter layers of the bottlebrush) but they get rock hard REAL quickly.

I think my BG macaw's gym was about $350 delivered. That might be a little low, I simply don't recall and my information is on my old computer that just died. Trust me, these things are wonderfully engineered, designed to keep a bird happy, easy on the eye and very durable. I have had 4 BGs on mine for over 3 years on the macaw one and all of mine have used the other two for 5 years.

I'll have to find you a link. Here's a shot of the first playgym he made me when it was new. This was designed for my ekkie and my severe.
