Some of my babies

I hope this works

The closer one is Prince (M) and the further one is Nova (F) (sorry this couldn't come out any smaller)

Here's Leslie (F), an unusual-colored gyrfalcon

Marco (M), the overweight and overspoiled Harris hawk

Myrl (F), my oldest companion Kestrel

Enjoy

Falcon,

Sorry, the pics didn't come up for me. Maybe you could try re-sizing them 1st?

I look forward to seeing them! Can anyone else see them?

How gorgeous! ESPECIALLY the gyr falcon! They have got to be my favorite falcon of them all! I haven't seen one in person, though from previous research, I realise that the further south a gyr falcon is, the more it is grey in color, and the further north a gyr falcon is the more white it is (i.e. depending on where one lives depends on the total amount of grey on its body) so I don't really see how this one is unusually colored!

That's why I consider it unusual, I live in Arizona, and gotten her as an eyass in Colorado. The coloring there is one you might find in Alaska.

I take it then that she was captive bred??? If so then maybe she was from birds that were living farther south??? That would be my guess...

No, she wasn't captive bred. After I had gotten my general license for falconry, I scouted for a nest up in colorado for gyrfalcons. The game and fish department pointed me in the direction of one that was seen earlier. I found it and waited for about five days, carefully placing mirrors in nearby trees to get a better look at the eyasses. Both parents were a dark coloring. After the babies were old enough I slowly climbed the tree and scooped up a baby. I didn't expect to find out that two years later she would have a plumage like that. Don't get me wrong, the coloring it beautiful, but it does make me wonder about the parents genetics. Marco was taken from the wild as a juvinal by using a bal-chatri. Myrl was a rescue at the facility, who was the only survivor in a nest who's tree was chopped down. She was about two weeks when she came in and is my closest aviary friend.

I don't know much about falconry (hardly any, really), though that's quite interesting, neverthless! It is one thing for sure that would be nice to learn more about!
