rawhide for parrots?

I read on Land of Vos that "clean and natural" rawhides make a good toy for Eclectus. I have about 80 left in a bag of 100 rawhide sticks that I use for my foster puppies/dogs. I believe it is pressed rawhide though.

Is that dangerous to give her? I handed her a stick before just to see if she would like it and she was oohing, aahing, and helloooooooing all over it. But I took it away b/c I didn't know if there was a difference in terms of safety for birds.

thank you and I'm sorry for all of the questions.

ok 18 views and no warning or response whatsoever--so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that the rawhide chewy is ok for her.

Well, I have one for Ever...and there are rawhide strips on some of the bird toys I have...

...don't see what it could hurt...but I'd get the 'white' ones...the others I find too greasy...even for my dogs...

Lily has a rawhide toy that she can swing on and eat - and she loves it.

rawhide chews

If you're a believer in "don't give your bird salt", then you probably won't want to give you bird rawhide. They're soaked in a brine solution. Do they just chew... or do they ingest some? I don't have a problem useing them.

Do not offer her these sticks. Instead, find a vendor that sells veggie tanned leather. There area few on Ebay (Chewy Toys for one). Leather tanned outside of the United States often has formaldahyde used in the process. Also, I'd be concerned about the binding agent that holds the leather sticks together. When in doubt, go pure.
