I have a friend who recently rehomed his Cockatoo(as he is getting too old to properly take care of her) that was 52 yrs old when last I saw her. Her name is Sassy and she's 62 now. I also know of Stanley, owned by Jon Mark Davey of Quakerville, whose Quaker is 48 yrs old. Way longer than Quakers are supposed to live. I am not sure, but I think he was wild-caught.
How sad to have to be separated at such an old age(The Too and her owner). Linda & Skye~

Wow, those are some ripe old ages! My birds are only nearly 2 and 1.5, so they've got a while to go!
My goldfish is workin its way up though....he's now 8 years old I think? He's completely beaten the odds. I won him at a traveling carnival, he stayed in the plastic bag for about 1 hour too long, was scratched by my cat (he still has the scar on his side) and still gets hunted by our three cats on occasion. He's now a good six inches long! When I got him he was just a puny little guy probably about 1 inch long. |
