Any Records Out There???

Anyone have an older bird???? On the Guinness World Records (Guinness Book of World Records), they have one for the oldest living parrot, an amazon that lived to be 35 years old. I KNOW for a fact that there are plenty of other parrots that have lived well over the age of 35 years, as I MET an amazon that was in his 50's!!!!!!!!!! So, anyone out there have a record to put straight with the Guinness World Records???

Btw, I remember a member here posted that they had a canary that lived to be 20 years old. Canaries and goldfish are a LOT alike as they are only expected to live 2-5 years (okay, so maybe canaries on the longer end), though someone reported that they had a goldfish that lived for 43 years! This canary does sound like a record holder to me.... he should be submitted to the Guinness World Records site...

Oldest Pigeon Living
The world's oldest living pigeon is the former racing pigeon "Old Man", who was born on Feburary 16, 1980, and is owned by George E. Seagroatt of Shrivenham, Wiltshire, UK. A true racing pigeon – a Busschaert strain – Old Man won his first race in 1981, competing against 2,114 other birds.

Oldest Caged Dove
The world's oldest dove is Methuselah, a white, male collared dove who was born in April 1975 and is owned by Manfred Meller of Harxheim, Germany.

Oldest Caged Parrot
The longest-lived caged parrot was Prudle,
who was captured in 1958. Owned by Iris Frost, of East Sussex, UK, Prudle lived to the age of 35. Prudle was taken from a nest in Jinja, Uganda, in 1958 and was originally owned by Lyn Logue of Golders Green, London, UK before residing in Iris' care. Prudle also talked her way into the record books after winning the Best Talking Bird title at the National Cage and Aviary Bird Show in London for an incredible 12 consecutive years. The chatty chirper knew 800 English words. One of her favorite phrases was "What are you doing?" Iris says Prudle would ask to be released from her cage with the croaked demand, "Want to come out". The bird was also impeccably polite! Before Iris went to bed she would wish her goodnight, and when she woke the bird would always parrot "good morning". Prudle died on July 13, 1994, but was still talking two days before her death.

I thought that there was a documented case of an amazon living to be in his 102? something like that here in alaska. Here is a link to Joanie Doss's webpage that states this information:

(And sometimes visitors can still meet King Tut, the recently retired official zoo greeter. This salmon-crested cockatoo is the zoo's oldest resident. He arrived on March 25, 1925.)

Churchill's B&G was on the news still alive at 104 this year.
Although he is no longer cursing Hitler and is more reserved it is reported he is doing well for a bird of his age. The bird was given back to the family that had given him to Churchill.

I have a wild caught B&G that will be 27 in October. I guess I can call him middle aged.

Our 2006 Parrots at Play Poster Parrot – Cookie

http://www.parrots-at-play.org/posterparrots.html

Cookie is a Major Mitchell's Cockatoo who has lived at the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois since it opened in 1934. Yup, that's right, he's over 70 years old! Cookie has seen many caregivers come and go in his lifetime.

The Winston Churchill BG macaw wasn't his at all, according to his daughter. Every year the story resurfaces and is denounced by the surviving family. He did, however, have an African grey.

I lost my twenty year old cockatiel last year, I know someone who has a tiel who is 32 years old. That has to be a record for tiels.

We have had our goldfish for five years now and they are still going strong. We won them throwing ping pong balls at the county fair. We used to have two little goldfish in a twenty gallon tank and people laughed at it. Now we have two real big goldfish in a twenty gallon tank and people don't laugh anymore.
