Did you bird start vomiting and have undigested seed or pellets in the vomitus? If so, this is a very bad sign. PDD starts as either vomiting or neurlogical problems often perching being one of them. Please, your bird must be seen my an avain vet.

Josie,
If he was my bird, I would really try and keep him outside for awhile if the weather is fine and if kept in a predator proof, roomy cage/flight/aviary. IMO & IME natural direct daily sunshine ALONG WITH the needed vitamins/minerals, ALONG WITH full flight and either a playmate (best) or numerous amounts of different toys (second best) in a long flight works wonders. Of course first rule out any serious diseases ETC., contagious or otherwise....Good luck to ya both...... |

That sounds good to me, but I think an hour a day is very insufficient. Try at least 4 hours, not in direct sunlight of course.

Yes Josie, like Nancy said, adequate (key word here) sunshine is needed IMO & IME each day. I would really put them both outside daily (best to just keep outside for a few months minimum I think) in a large SAFE cage (solid top and double bottom & solid back & sides is best IMO). Have part of the rest of the cage blocked from the sun also so that any second the birds want out of the sun, they can move on their own.
You might want to & be able to mount a long cage onto the wall of your home right outside a window so you can see the birds often and even service the cage from inside. I would have the cage far enough above the ground so as not to have to worry about walking predators and I would construct or buy a cage with only 1/4 to 3/8" spacing between the wires to keep out snakes & rodents. You might even want to screen it to keep out lizards, flies, roaches, some ants and mosquitoes etc...... |
