Romper room! Eek!

Does anyone with multiple parrots ever have times when it seems like they've all gotten together and ploted against you? The girls are generally fairly well behaved but this afternoon was like a seen out of the movie Daddy daycare.

I let everyone out of their cages for a bit, and I admit, I wasn't really paying that much attention to them, I was reading, Sunny was 'helping' me. (she likes to mouth the pages when I turn them and will sit on the back of my chair and wait for it)

First I hear Hannah saying 'No no no!' so I look up to see Bonnie sitting on the edge of the fish tank and before my very eyes she sticks her foot in the water and comes out with a fish!!!

I leap up and go running across the room, scared she's going to bite the poor thing, thus killing my son's prized goldfish and possibly giving herself some horrible disease caught from a live raw goldfish but she just casually tosses it down onto the floor and proceeds to start 'fishing' again! (Fishing consisting of leaning over the tank with an obvious evil eye on the remaining three)

I scoop up the fish and plunk him back into the tank and swoop her off the edge (recieving a vicious little nip for my actions) and take her straight to the shower to wash off the fish slime.

Lola comes tripping into the bathroom (right off the living room so I could hear everything going on with the others and if I had peeped around the door have a full view) and decides she wants in. Ok.

Then I hear a loud thump. Looking round the door I see my book (new Harry potter!) on the floor and Sunny gleefully ripping the pages out of it! So I go to retrieve my book and rush right back into the bathroom to find Lola has somehow left the shower and grabbed a tube of toothpaste on the counter and squeezed it all over the mirror and counter. I swear I was gone two seconds!!!

So, get birds out of shower, check to be sure the toothpaste was not punctured (It was not) and go back to living room. Check on poor tramatized fish (he seems to be fine right now) and start getting girls back into cages. As I go to put Hannah up she repeats "no no no' and decides to leave the room! So I follow her into the dining room where she manages to land right in my potted plant stand and knock two to the floor. Sigh.

So now she's covered in potting soil. Not good. I take her to the shower and decide to go ahead and let Sunny bathe as well. And of course, Sunny decides she NEEDS to cuddle with me while soaking wet.

I have now finally gotten everyone back to their cages and changed into dry clothes. Now to go clean up the mess in the bathroom, see if I can salvage my plants, tape the pages back in my book, and go buy a lid for the fish tank.

The joys of having Macaws.

NO THANK YOU! LOL! It was funny, thinking back on it but it sure wasn't at the time. Its what I get for not being at full attention when I let them out though!

I'd have to agree!!! That is soooo funny!! Your poor fish...gets snatched right out of the water by a big bird...with a big beak!! You better watch them VERY closely from now on...you never know what they will plan for next time! LOL!!

Sounds like you had quite a day today. While it is funny now, I'm sure it was frenetic for a few moments there.

You know, it was such a well orchestrated operation I have to wonder if they didn't really plan it!

It was. As I said though, my fault totally. I should have been paying more attention. It could have been much worse. My son has had those fish for going on 4 years now, and he would be VERY upset if something happened to one. Not to mention what biting it might have done to her.

It's funny though, that fish tank has sat in that same place for the last three years and none of the girls have ever so much as blinked at it before.

Poor fishy. I talked to the vet (there is actually an aquatic vet that just joined up with my avian vet, how wierd is that?) and he says as long as the fishie isn't punctured, he should be fine.

Well Sunny must not really be into Harry Potter and Hannah...well she ratted out her sister Bonnie in the goldfish case, and then doesn't want to be put away. While Lola was having fun with the toothpaste...whew that is a lot of action going on there!!!

That was an awesome tale of the day!!! The Outlaw has shared some very good stories herself. I don't know how you BIG bird people do it, my little guys keep me hopping every second if I have them out, I can't imagine how it you all do it. Cause it is always BIG trouble when they find some it seems!!

That is a great story...messy with almost a fish homicide...oh ya tell Bonnie that I need someone to go fishin with next weekend :) :):) :) :)
