Actually, I would not use them. Wild grapevine that is untreated with chemicals is fine, but most wreaths distributed in craft stores either are imported from Mexico or harvested from vineyards that are HEAVILY sprayed. In fact, grapes are among the most heavily sprayed of the fruits commonly sold in supermarkets today.
The imported grapevine wreaths are also sprayed before the enter the U.S. with pesticides. You might want to take a walk in the woods and see what's growing up the trees. On the east coast, wild grapevines are all over the place. I usually make my own Christmas wreaths from the stuff in my backyard. Instead of the grapevine wreaths, look for unfinished wicker. You can then put them in the the dishwasher and let them dry in the sun.

Thank you Nancy I used to be able to find the willow wreaths everywhere and now none of the craft stores sell them around here. My birds love sitting in them like they are a swing and I would attach all kinds of fun stuff for them to chew on but I can't find them anymore.

Leah:
Try the Dollar Stores. Every now and then, they'll have a bunch of them. I usually buy all I can fit in the car.
