The Judges did do a good job with the winners.
We had 5 judges from the US and Canada.
Each judge scored from 1 to 5, and the top 12 made it.
I only know two judges. None of the Board members knows them all.
Each Board member nominates a judge or two.
We like to have a broad spectrum of judges. I invited a Board Certified Avian vet to be one, and a woman who loves animals and is just learning all about birds because of my guys she birdysits when I am away from the house for more then a few hours.(Emma throws her food and always has an empty food bowl, and Sydney dunks his food in his water, so it needs to be changed often)

So we asked the Judges to score on Quality of the picture(for printing purposes) the beauty of the bird, and most importantly what made them smile.

It will be a good calendar, specially with Graehstones poem!!!!

ps..how they appear in the calendar by month has nothing to do with the scores.
JJ's picture scored very high. We thought because of his coloring, because of the parrot trivia that will accompany december, and because he was a very special parrot,as my Sampson was, and another life taken so young, he should have the honor of december.

I know I'm excited way to go Tiki girl! My husband, who took that particular picture of her and picked it to submit, had a grin from ear to ear and told his dad who is a photo buff that he's being "published"!

BTW - I've met that Too, Charlie. Danny and I went to the Blodel Conservatory while on our honeymoon last year. It's like a tiny rainforst in a tiny biodome, very cool place if you ever go to Vancouver. Really beautiful and there's quite a few parrots there too, I saw Charlie's picture in a city guide, and that's how we ended up there.

I was happy to see so many Poi's - especially the 2 Sennie's (I think I know them from the Sennie or Poi board).
My favorite picture, though, it the 2 cockatiels. How sweet.
