New setup for birds - Whatcha think?

I live in a two bedroom apartment with my pet cockatiel, and I'll be getting a second bird in a few weeks. I'd like to describe what I want to do with their cages & play areas and see what you think of it.

I want to put the two cages in the second bedroom, and put the play areas (1 stand for each bird) in the living room. In the morning when I go to work they would see me for a few minutes as I check the food & water, and turn on a radio. Then in the afternoon when I get home from work I'll take them to their play areas until it's bed time, when they go back to their cages.

Given that my cockatiel & my new bird (A green cheek conure) are both attention sponges I can put them back in their cage for a time out if they start to screech or if the GCC gets nippy.

I still have to work out how to keep the GCC properly socialized, but I think the above is a step in the right direction.

Whatcha think? Agree? Disagree?

...sounds fine...however you might want to consider letting them out in the morning too, if you can...I generally take this time to have them shower with me (alternate days)...and in general mine love being out while I get ready for the day...

...if I'm not showering them, I usually feed them something 'special' outside of the cage, so that also keeps them out of mischief...and then I freshen up their water, pellets and a couple of veggies, so they don't mind going back IN the cage before I leave...

...it really doesn't take up more than an extra 10-15 minutes for me, and I think it makes a huge difference for them...

I don't know yet. It's just a 2 bedroom apartment, and the living room wouldn't be appropriate.

According to my doc & my vet both I and my cockatiel have been exposed to Psitticosis, and my cockatiel is in the early stages of renal fail (As well as spoiled rotten ). I don't expect my cockatiel to catch anything but the GCC will be exposed to several diseases in short order I have no doubt.

I could squeeze his cage into the master bedroom, but the birds are going to mix regardless of what I do. I can't just ignore the Conure while he's in quarantee and in a closed two bedroom apartment (90+ degrees in Central New York. Air conditioning is my friend) their going to be exposed to whatever the other is carrying in short order.

I really have no good solutions available.
