Snowball fighting in Maryland in July
I was asked to tell a funny story. Don't have anything especially funny. I've been busy entertaining humans. However, I can tell you this funny observation. As you know, I take the BGs to the aviary every day and they have a ball playing like the little monkeys they are. However, they still require smooches and skritches, so one by one, I bring them over to my chair and love them up. I was on a chaise sunbathing. The chaise was in an area of the pool enclosure that has some grass. I keep forgetting how strange grass is to parrots. They rarely get to walk on it. I noticed how much fun Mia, my youngest hen, was having climbing all over me and the chaise, going under it and playing peek a boo. So, I opened up the aviary door and allowed them each to climb down and find their way over to me. All of my birds are clipped and clipped fairly hard. I think they all have AT LEAST 5 flights clipped on each wing. The boys figured it out pretty quickly and soon joined their sister just nipping my ears and climbing all over me. Margarita who NEVER plays with the riffraff decided she needed some mom time soon joined us. She really can't stand "babysitting" so she just sat on my lap.
Mia and Dreamer decided to explore the grass. They were so funny. At first they walked in it and reminded me of a cat on wet grass. After a while, they both started to rip it out by the roots. This elevated into a grass throwing and screaming competition that ultimately ended with Sailor knocking over my iced tea. My birds LOVE ice. They are like little penguins. Each scrambled for some cubes, INCLUDING the Fabulous Margarita and started lobbing cubes at each other. I have NO idea where they come up with this stuff. It turned into a snowball fight in July! You know me, if it makes them happy, then I'm happy. And to think, I've spent countless hours making them toys. I'm thinking about freezing some little toy dinosaurs in some ice trays and offering them later. Maybe I'll freeze them some grapes, too. They never cease to make me laugh and we can all use more of that.

They grab the stuff in their claws and swing their legs out to the sides. Its very strange to watch, but they do it routinely. They tend to throw backward as opposed to forward.
