Can an older female tiel start whistling?

Dandy who is believed to be a female she has the behaviors and the yellow bars on her tail and the vet thinks she's a she. I got her in late Nov of last year she had a band but no hatch year and the man who sold her to me said she had been weened a couple of months ago. But the vet thinks she's about a year old now so I'm not sure. She just squaks and does her birdie chirps well all of the sudden the other day I heard a very high pitched wolf whistle my budgie didn't do it which he does often and it was her and she has done it a couple of more times. I thought she would have started doing that when she was younger but she's acting like she's gonna start making different noises? Just wanted to know if anyone has had this experience.

I have a female cockatiel named angel (laid eggs so I am sure) and she does the wolf whistle too.

I think for her it is a 'contact' call and not a song whistle like it is for the boys.

Either you have a male in disguise, or you have a female to prove that indeed females can indeed whistle too, and just as good as the guys!

Birds can learn to talk at different ages, from before they are weaned till well after they are 15 years old (in some of the medium to larger birds), but of course I'm sure that you know that not all birds will talk!
