I think you'd be fine...they'll either get along, or not, but they'll have separate cages...so it'll work out...
...but in your case...I'd be worried about disease from the petstore you worked at...

In the States, the Cape parrots are pretty expensive (I think about $2000). If that fits in your budget, then by all means look into them. Jean Pattison, the African Grey expert, also breeds Capes, I think. You might want to post a few questions for her.
I have seen 2 so far in a pet store in Severna Park, Maryland. They are fairly large for medium sized parrots and seemed pretty smart.
