Photos of my flock

As a way of introduction, here are more photos of my flock. The first one is of Gabby, my CAG, as she preens outdoors following a bath. Yep, that's right, she gets no privacy when I have my camera in hand!

Second is mty sassy little Stella, a yellow nape amazon. She is my first bird and sometimes I think she feels her status as the first bird in the house accords her special deference by the others. They do not always see it that way, and she always manages to put them in their place. See that wheel of corn in her foot? Well, she stole that from my cockatoo! Yep, she must come first!

The thid is of my little winged piggie, aka Charlie the ekkie! I have yet to find a food he does not like! In this photo he is eating one of his favorite meals -- beans and rice, A shy eater he is not!

I think each of these photos show a certain part of each bird's personality. Hope I have not worn all of you out with all the photos I have posted today.

And last but not least is Izzy, my "dennis the menace" bird. She taught me the merit to never letting her out of my sight. Once when I went to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, I returned to find that Izzy had managed to pull the thermostat right off the wall, wires and all! I had no heat until got someone in the fix the darn thing!

Izzy is part chain saw. She loves to chew and shred. Every day is another challenge to find her something new to put in her cage to chew. She loves cardboard boxes, green tree branches, small milk cartons, etc. She is also a very smart bird who likes to be challenged in her foraging efforts. I have to think of new ways of hiding food in her cage for her to find. She does not like to just be handed food. She wants to work to get it! I am not kidding! If food is placed in a bowl, she will usually just throw it on the floor and to the bottom of her cage. Shis is by far my messiest bird. And also my pickiest eater.

Can't you just see the devil in her eye? I absolutely love her to pieces.

good looking flock there!

we know about the thermostat thing here. our conure, sylvester, managed to chew the wires off of 3 of them before we got smart enough to mount one of those lock box over the thermostat. luckly my boyfriends Dad works for a place that installs boilers and such so he got it for us. I would have never have thought of that as a solution myself, but it solved the problem.

Nice shots of your beautiful babies. I especially love the one of Izzy, I'd love to use it as a reference photo for a painting.

Franciscus:

Izzy would certainly be flattered to serve as a reference for any of your paintings. The only condition is that you post here your finished painting for us all to admire! Good luck and I look forward to seeing your artwork.
