Adding a new member to my family...
This Thursday, I will be meeting with a woman who is handfeeding a Solomon Island Eclectus hen...the woman breeds lovebirds and parrotlets and is an ER Vet Tech, and I met her through a small breeder that I found on The Land of Vos website. The breeder only has one pair of Eclectus parrots that she breeds, but she has 5 or 6 Eclectus parrots as pets and knows the breed quite well. Due to her work schedule, she cannot handfeed the babies that her pair produces so she gives them to her friend, the woman I am meeting, to handfeed so that they can get the attention that they need!
So anyway, if I like her, which I am sure that I will, than she is mine! I am so excited! I have wanted an Eclectus for a while, so this is a dream come true for me! The earliest that she would be ready would be the 28th, but I have asked the woman if she would hold her until I could get everything ready for her (I want to go to some bird shows to check and see if they some deals on cages, but if not I think I am going to go with Desmonds Cages over the internet because they seem to have the bigger cages for the best price, plus I need to get toys and set up a vet appt., and so on...see, I am so excited that I am rambling!)
Oh, and I think that her name will be Miss Scarlett! Yes, I know how common of a name that is for an Ekkie hen, but it was the first name that popped into my head and I really like it! Miss Scarlett even says "hi" and a few other phrases, the handfeeder has told me!
Ok, well that is all for now. Thank you all for listening and I shall keep you posted regarding our meeting and all that thereafter!!!!!!!!!!
