Met a silly bird.....

We went to a store about an hour from here and met a border at the shop. His name is York, he is a 10 yr old GW. He tried to act like a bully, but kept failing!

When I talked to him he started tapping his foot so that his band clicked on the top of his door. Then he would sway back and forth, I was told he was waiting for me to sing. SO I did, and he tapped more (to the beat) and danced. He would't let me pet him, but if I moved away he hunkered down and wiggled his wings and called me back.

Finally he went in his cage and started talking to me, then would lay his head against the bars so I could rub his neck. While petting him he would mumble awwwww.

Finally while standing on his door, he totally caved in..... I was "allowed" to put his ruffled up head and preen his porcupine head...LOL!!! Ended up in under 2 hours a big baby!!!! He was just too funny. The more you sing to him, the more he carries on, then I whistled Andy griffith and boy did he get excited and dance!!!

He was a ball!!!!!

how fun! I'm still learning how much birds can be "hams" and how excited and responsive they can be to attention from us.

I'm a die-hard cat lover but my baby boy could care less when I say hi to him and tell him he's my good boy.

"I soooo don't care that you're taking my picture."

Scarlett, on the other hand, bobs up and down and rubs her beak along the bars of her cage when I peek in at her. She caws at me and says "hello" and "hola" and does this almost "somersault" where she climbs up to the top of the cage, hangs herself upside down, and then "walks" back down so she's upright and standing on her perch again.

"I love that you're looking at me and paying attention to me."

Aww, he sounds so cute! This reminds me of the last time I went to a bird store...

When looking at the birds bording there I saw one of those "stack" type cages (one cage that is turned into two...one above the other) and an umbrella too in each one. I love cockatoos so of course had to go see them...I started talking to the one on the bottom and after a minute or 'too' I began talking to the other one. Then I feel something holding my shirt and look down to see a little grey foot reaching as far out as it can. I thought this was hilarious so of course I had to talk to him some more. He then started scratching his own head really slowly (and I remembered reading that some birds will do that when they want you to pet them) and then leaned his head against the cage bars and allowed me to pet him.

After looking around the store a little more, I heard a cute little cockatiel whistling the andy griffith song a few feet from the too's cage. I was talking to him when I again had a little birdy foot holding my shirt. Everytime I walked away to look at another bird he would do whatever he could to get my attention including dancing and talking. He was really 'too cute!
