Help needed in Washington state

There's an emergency here in WA now....66 birds (49 tiels and 17 keets) are in danger of being euthanized...a breeder got raided and the birds are in an Everett, WA shelter - please post to all your groups...if you can help with placing any of these birds, please contact Jeff at jstewart@oz.net.

The shelter has agreed IF these birds can be placed in NON-breeding situations and as quickly as possible he will allow Jeff to get them placed instead of euthanizing them.

What kind of "shelter" is that - allowing healthy birds (I assume) to be killed ("euthanized").........I don't get it unless there is some kind of local law there requiring this & if so, that law should be changed!

IMO, allowing them to be put into a healthy & happy breeding situation with a responsible/caring breeder is by far much better than killing them & actually would be heaven on earth for the birds - just ask 'em......If someone can ship them to me I'll do my best to rehome/redistribute them to the best possible places I can find around here........Otherwise I am willing to contribute to the cost of shipping/transporting all them (together) to someone else, in that area or wherever if someone can assure me this is on the level......... IMO, even giving them to a local pet shop there would be by far a much better alternative than killing them!....Euthanization of a non-critically sick/terminally ill & suffering bird is disgusting & I'd like to get my hands on the "being" that actually does it - law or no law. .....Only problem with that though is having to go to jail afterwards.

That is just awful-that anyone would euthanize poor innocent birds because their owner got raided. They didn't do anything wrong! I agree with Joel about what should happen to anyone who would do such a thing so I guess he and I would be prison buddies. If they can't be sent to Joel, at least give them away to local families as pets!

Alright Tiki, we can be cell buddies after we ring that person's neck......I don't need any more birds or headaches but will do what I can for them. I hope they give them away over there, I'm still thinking something possibly fishy here. I e-mailed the guy right after I posted here so we will see what comes of it.....

I emailed also, then called a couple of local bird stores to have the ask about the birds. I figure if one of the stores took them they could either give them away or sell them for a reduced price.
