Regurgitating???

Miss Scarlett sometimes regurgitates when I am holding her. I know that this is a sign of affection, but my questions is if she is regurgitating and then eating herself, is it still a sign of affection towards me or towards herself ?

Believe me, I would rather her do that then have the regurgitated food leave her mouth and go in my direction, but I was just wanting to clarify this behavior. She also seems to do it more when I am scolding her for doing something naughty!

Like this morning, she was perched on my hand and she began trying to nibble on my fingers and I told her, "no bite" and that is when she began her regurgitating! So, is it like she is saying, "Sorry Mama, I love you!" Because that would be nice!

By the way, for those of you that saw the Miss Scarlett doesn't like her Daddy thread, my boyfriend has been letting her come out of her cage by herself and she does and she is fine with him once she is out! He also attempted to feed her last night when I was coming home late from work, so I think that he is really trying all that he can to get her to feel more comfortable with him without pushing too hard! I am very proud of him! Well, gotta run, bird cages need cleaning!

I went through a similar phase with my own Scarlett. After she decided to love me (almost 2 months after we adopted her), she'd come out willingly of her cage. She'd dance and rub her beak up and down along the bars when she saw me like "let me out! I want to be with you!" I'd put my hand out for her and SHE would say "step up" and put her foot out. I'd laugh and say "good girl!". Then she'd scuttle up my arm to my elbow and then say "step up!" b/c she knows she isn't allowed up on my shoulder and she still wanted to climb. Again I'd say "good girl" and at that point she'd regurgitate.

I don't know what really made her stop. I was grossed out for a few weeks and then she stopped saying "step up" for me which didn't get the positive reaction--and it stopped happening.

I'd say it lasted about 2-3 weeks tops and that was about 2 months after I had adopted her.

My sennie will regurgitate for me and if I do not put my hand out for her love offering, she'll re-ingest it. Because that grosses me out, I put out my hand and plop goes the love offering.
