Baby Birdie

So here I am, home after away for a mini vacation up North 4 hours!
I come home, and listen into my answering machine, "Steven look in your tomatoes AS SOON AS YOU GET HOME", and message later "Steven we found a baby bird..blahblahblah.

Long story short my friends family found a feathered baby(I believe it to be a baby grackel) on a bridge. Called my house, I wasn't home and thet left it in my tomatoes!

So, I run to my tomatoes and there the poor baby is, on closer inspection the baby had two injured eyes, and a kinked looking neck. The baby was put there in the morning, and I came in late afternoon! Poor thing must have been starved.

I called vets for rehabilitator references,...HUMPH! Figrues, their all closed!!!

So, longstory short this baby doesn't seem to wanna eat. But s/he takes in fluids very well. I was able to have her drink many water droplets/ raspberry juice/ rasperry juice/diluted bird minerals.(Tried to feed crickets/brocolli etc,...but wasnt happening)

S/he is now in my garage(MY dad won't let me bring her in, because he claims she's covered in fleas) wrapped in my pj bottoms that are very warm and comfortable. I will be waking up up bright and early for another feeding.

I'll update, a prayer to god tonight and I'm sure she'll be alive in the morning!

I'll update! As soon as I get up.... and then those pesky vets better be up for that rehabiltator referencing!

Steven

Awww, poor little thing. At least it had some kindness shown to it in its last few hours of life, by you. It's a definite compliment that when these people found a baby bird, the first person they thought of was you!

Nice try, bud. The cards were stacked not in this birds favor, and I would've been very surprised to hear any different ending. You tried, though, and many wouldn't have done as much ... so kudos to you.

AAAaaaaaawwwwww, how very sad~ You certainly DID what you could do & I agree with Crebain that most likely the lil critter was already looking towards 'RainBow Bridge' as you made he/she comfortable. So you remember that 'your' last touch & compassion made the lil one's trip that much sweeter~

Thank-you

Thank-you all for your kind words, thoughts, and feelings.
It wasn't even an option for me to reject the little ball of feathers from an elongated(if thats a word) life. I'd take any hurt/harmed animal without second thought.

I wish that their were more though like us birdboarders/animal lovers who had a heart towards nature and the envioronment. Those who thought twice before throwing their popcan on the grass, or putting firecrackers in frogs(Which I find completely immature and revolting)mouths.

From snakes to birds, to mice to moose(that was random lol)I love all critters and creatures(minus most bugs aka SPIDERS! EW!!!!)

So, once again thanks for your ear and support,
Steven
