It's pumpkin time again!

Every single year, in the fall, I gather up a bunch of little orange pumpkins for the birdie buddies to play with. My "little" birdies are pretty big, so what I do is punch holes in the little punkins and run a clothesline through a bunch of them. I then stretch it across the aviary. Its as much messy fun as a macaw can possibly have without beets or pomegranites.

Its a great toy, actually good for them, rarely sprayed with chemicals and the dried pumpkin seeds are a special treat, too.

I will bake the sad remains and mash it in the evening meal with some corn, cooked greens and brown rice. Just thought I'm mention the fun factor in the common pumpkin.

Sounds very cool...do you think a TAG could do any damage to them? I hate to play favorites, if nothing else Im sure grecie would love the cooked mash at the end, she's very big into her cooked foods :)

On a similar note my fids love corn on the cob. The tag is very gentle about just taking the corn off the cob but I swear my itty bitty senegal pulled a tazmanian devil act on his and would reduce it to mere shavings in short time. It was amazing to watch.

Hmmm. Not sure Jim. You might want to cut them in half for the little guys.

yeah, that would make sense. It does seem like something she would like to work at though if I get her started, I will definitely have to give it a try.
