Its a small and crazy world
Today was my monthly trip to the hairdressers for yet another wacky spikey haircut. I love her, she's pretty, fun and knows everything that's going on as only hairdressers and bartenders do.
Anyway, we have many mutual friends including a favorite waitress in our local Chinese restaurant of choice. You may be wondering what the heck this has to do with anything. Well here's the link: Kim is my hairdresser. The shampoo girl's name is Alice. Seems that Alice recently got a umbrella cockatoo from a local vet. She had taken her Pomerian in for shots and Linda, the waitress had just brought in a cockatoo. So what? Well, it wasn't Linda's too. She had gone to McDonalds for a french fry fix and when she got to her car, there was this very large bird sitting on the hood of the car parked next to her. Its was very, very hot and the bird kepts shifting from foot to foot. Linda waited for at least 15 minutes for the owner to come out, but no one did. So, she got in her car and talked to the bird. She had NO bird experience whatsoever. Anyway, the bird flew over to her car and onto her shoulder. She was MORE than surprised and of course dropped her soda in her lap. She waited a bit longer not knowing HOW to extricate a too from her shoulder and noticed the car that had been parked beside hers was gone. Looking around, she saw no one else and when she asked the drive through guys if anyone inside had lost their too, he of course thought she was nuts. Having to go back to work and home to change her clothes, she decided to take it to the vet in the same shopping center. That's where she ran into Alice. Well, she left the bird with the vet and then went on with her day. She couldn't sleep and kept thinking about the amazing bird. The following day, she called the vet and they told her that the lady with the Pomeranian had agreed to take the bird. They gave her Alice's number. Linda called Alice and Alice asked if it was about the bird. Alice asked if she wanted the bird, and Linda said yes. So.... They met up and Alice gave her the cockatoo. My hairdresser knew that I'm a bird nut and told me the story about the waitress with the white parrot and I started laughing. Linda has for many years been our favorite waitress. She always adds extra rice and noodles to my carryout because she knows my birds like Chinese. She has always said how nuts I must be to order carry out for parrots. Now I guess SHE'S the one with the Parrot Bag to go. I can't wait to have dinner there this weekend. She doesn't even KNOW that I know she has the bird. And, to make it even stranger, Plum is in town. Jade Garden is HIS favorite restaurant and Linda is his favorite waitress. That's how come I know we'll be having dinner there this week. Pretty quirky, eh? I will of course attempt to find the real bird's owner, but in the meantime............. __________________ A bird is the only pet that will ever tell you I love you.
