Vet visit brings a breakthrough!

Sylvester had his first vet visit last night. Overall things went very well and the vet said he looks great. Also said Sylvester was the 3rd RF in the past month and they are his favorite macaw. The little buggers are popping up all over the place ;)

Two things came about from the visit (aside from all that good medical stuff that we are waiting on the results of)

1) He spoke! He was a bit nervous getting back in the car so soon after he was settling in his home. I was trying to drive and he wanted my attention so he looked at me and clear as day said "Hi" Not a huge feat of verbalization, but its the first time he has said anything.

2) He is a bit less afraid of wifeydear now. After getting toweled and poked and prodded by the vet and his assistant he came running over to me and wifey for comfort and happily allowed both of us to give it. He even stepped up on Kelley's arm for the first time, but quickly realized that I was there and he would rather be with me so he jumped over to me. But at least he wasnt running away from her like usual.

Looks like mac and cheese for dinner for a while....that full initial workup is always a killer, but it will be good to know he is in good health :)

Great news! Saying "Hi" is no small feat - he's still a baby!

Pretty good, eating very well. Not quite doing alot of playing yet, but he likes to come out of the cage and hang out with me. He seems very relaxed and is slowly staring to explore more and do things. He is very good about his bedtime, quiets down as soon as the lights go out and stays quiet until someone comes in to wake him in the morning. Can be a bit vocal at other times but mostly when he can hear but not see us, Im sure that will be better once quarantine is up and he can be in the center of things.

The sleep part is great, myguy doesn't make a peep once the lights go out and then not until we say 'Good Morning Merlin'. They are super social little macaws.
