I won the book last year at a bird expo, and have watched the movie twice. The first time I watched it was in San Fransisco, after I had gotten back from a trip to Hawaii this February (got back the first day of March). I did however miss the wild flock of mitreds in Maui, but it was well made up for it after watching the movie, then actually seeing them at the park just a couple blocks from the movie!!!! It was as if that little park was the only place on earth that was alive and boisterous, and the rest of the world just faded away. The total amount of aw and beauty in these birds is just so amazing, and to see what a cherry head is suppose to act like is just so completely different than what I know from my own little cherry head!

The second time I saw the movie, it was July 16th, with my bird club... There was a meeting being held about the Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, and the speaker was Mark Bittner himself! After the presentation, some snacks, and book signing (Mine was signed 'To Monica & Frids' lol), some of us headed over to the only movie theater that was playing it (and so happened to be the first time that the movie production company actually aired a movie in Reno), and watched the show again. He stuck around for a while to answer any more questions that there might be after the movie, and was able to talk to him afterwards.

Turns out that Mark Bittner is writing another book about how he came to San Fransisco and the troubles he had to endure.

I am currently reading this book a little at a time on my lunch break and I am dying to see the movie. I don't think it will EVER come to Australia!

It's about time!!! It is opening 20 Oct, so just a couple more weeks..............

Palace Centro Cinema, Brisbane http://www.palacecinemas.com.au/frameset.asp?s=3

In the book, I am up to the chapter about Mandela, the conure who was attacked by a cat and rescued by Mark. What a heart-warming story, I can't wait to see this film! And I will want the DVD too!

So glad you can get the chance to see it, it truly is VERY moving. Although I think I cried more when i read the book!!

I cant wait for the new DVD - due for release in December 05. (apparently with a "new twist" about Conor!!)

Every now and again I check out the website (where some of his previous "room mates" live.)

http://www.the-oasis.org/

After I saw the movie and read the book, I simply cant get enough (I make sure I check his online journal for updates all the time)
