Talking Hee.

Alright, I gave my non-bird person friend a test to see if she ever listens to what the heck I say. I showed her some pictures of birds, and asked her to identify them. She actually did quite well.

Here are the pictures we used:

1. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...BigglesSid.bmp

We had a bit of trouble with the bare-eyed, as she had never seen a cockatoo like that. After a couple proding hints, she got it. She got the grey right away.

2. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...2VladWings.jpg

She got the conure part right, and it took some proding to get the exact kind.

3. http://show.imagehosting.us/show/513..._-1_513419.jpg

This one she got right away with the caique, but didn't know the kind.

4. http://images.snapfish.com/343%3C6%3...7%3B6938ot1lsi

She got the parrotlet within 2 seconds (With gender + kind, and all!), and the quacker immediatly too. Took some proding with the lovebird, as she associated lovebirds with just the kind Alex is (Alex is my normal peachfaced).

5. http://tinypic.com/dzjka0.jpg

This one she labled right away as "amazon", but didn't get the kind.

6. http://home.comcast.net/~bdawg/3fids.jpg

She got Sunny right, but had no clue with Hermie and Woogie (She probably would have gotten Woogie if he wasn't wet).

I think pretty good for a non bird person, no?

Wow

Either you talk about your birds VERY VERY much and she listens very closely, or she secretively lives another life in a bird store as they did fabulous on your test!!!

They did a better job than I would have!!! I am impressed with your friend...they are obviously not ignoring you, they are paying very close attention!!

Do they have any birds themselves?? They might wanna reconsider if they don't ...he he

Nice post :)

Ha ha, nice freedom. Now the real test - can you name them? I can name them all 'cept Tingies - I think her grey is Sid, but the rest I have no idea.. or is Sid another african grey? I can't keep track of all her birds.. what does she have, like 21 or something now? LOL! Oh, and just so everyone knows what in the world we are talking about - I know freedom from another forum, and used a bunch of the members pictures.

Oh and spinnergirl, she doesn't own any birds or had any prior parrot knowledge before speaking to me.. but that shall be changing soon - I'm working on it. She seems like a cockatiel person to me.

I cant named Tingies, except for her grey Sid, but Tingie also has 2 or three greys... and I think her birdcount is up to like, 22-23.... but I think I can name the rest- lessee, well, I cant name mydecember cause i have never heard her use her caiques name, not even her new caiques name, so no on that one, but
the amazon is Congo
then Hermie, Woogie and Sunny have their names on the photo, so that is cheating...
and Rosemarys are Yim, Noah, and ohhhh, ohh I know this, I dooooo, is it Elliot?
