Well, what the heck do I know. I only have one female ekkie. However, having talked to others with both, we all seem to agree that there are better housemates than ekkies and macaws. In fact, I think the ekkies and greys are great together.

Oh please oh please go get her...I cant bring home another right now without risking severe injury from wifey dear so someone else needs to. Right here in NJ too....sigh....

If I may be so bold, realizing how new you are to handling larger birds, I would pass on a scarlet. They really require experienced and firm handling. I realize that ekkies can also be a challenge, but trust me on this one, they simply don't compare. This scarlet isn't a young bird and no doubt has a history.They are among the more difficult of the macaws to handle.

thanks for the straight talk. I kind of feel the same way--but of course it's a Scarlet macaw which is the one I've always found most gorgeous.

I will do the "right" thing and sit back and wait for a few weeks at which point she'll probably be adopted. If she's still hanging around next month, I can't say that I'll be so rational.
