Hey I love Pi! No I don't have one, but my good friend does, and when I was looking into getting a bird she has VERY STRONGLY recommended it. Her bird came from a rescue, and he is sweet, not so loud, and has great sense of humor. Many people say that they're not active, some call them "perch potatoes" but my friend's pi is lots of fun to watch and can be hilarious with his antics. In the end I decided to get a tiel, but from everything I've gathered Pinous are wonderful birds and relatively "easy" to care for with minimal baggage. My friend can't stop bragging about her bird and it's definite on the top of the list for my next bird (whenever that's gonna be!)

Jake is a wonderful Senegal. But I have to say that he was an exception out of the three at Parrots and Co.. The reason I chose him (or he chose me) is that the other two would stay to themselves and not let me really touch them. Jake was curious about me and sort of stayed to the side, and within 10 minutes, he trusted me enough to put him on his back and pet his stomach. Jake reminds me very much of a dog. He gets playful, cuddly, talkative. I have to agree with one thing though. He is super quiet and will not speak at all if his cage is covered, however if I leave the room when it's not, he shreaks for a few minutes ... less if I close the door. He's very attached, but loves anyone new he meets. He's obsessed with burrowing into womens hair and loves digging into people's clothing. It's like he has a fetish. He also cuddles with my feet if I'm lying on the bed (he's so weird!). I highly recommend you follow that previous posting about spending time with the birds. Trust me - one will choose you. It's very funny how people come to meet their birds. One lady I know just happened to be walking home from work and a stray Quaker said "Hello" as she passed. She's had it for years now after not being able to locate the owner.

Arrow Oh

Oh I don't know why I don't choose a Pi. I just don't know what to get.

And so it begins ;) We all say just one....and then another...and then.....

Try to find a place where you can go and interact with as many as possible. As so many people have said a fid will choose you. I had really not been looking for a "large" bird but when I went to look at a little yellow collared macaw my red front was there, just waiting to choose me and I couldn't be any happier about it.

I'd love to have an honest answer...because I really want to know...you won't hurt my feelings at all...so go ahead...:

Honestly I have never owned nor been around a Pi.... So I can't give my opinion either way on those birds.

Oh so true. We started with just one that found us and now have a total of 44 with another 19 eggs under 4 hens. The only nice thing is that there is a bird fair the weekend of the 5th and 6th and we'll be selling 14 of them at that time. Woooooooooo that leave 30. We'll be selling 14 but also bring home another 6. I just can't win for loosing. But I would never sell the pets nor the breeding pairs.

I've heard nothing but good things about pionus, but I've never had the chance to work with one in person.

But if I knew what I know now back before I had gotten Beeps, and I had the choice between a pi and a sennie, I would have gone with the Pi.

Here's another suggestion for you..a conure from the phyrrua category!!

I wanted a sun, but shied from them for them being notoriously loud. I wanted a cockatiel, but shied from them because of them being notoriously dusty...

from your description, I would suggest a green cheek conure! Perfect size for cuddling, not too loud, and can learn to mimick!!

I have a black capped conure from the same category, and he is way too precious!! He's very trusting, eats all his good food like a good boy, and at seven months, he's starting to talk, but still sounds like a grumpy old man mumbling! lol.

Arrow Ha!

HA HA! That's funny!

Well, The breeder in Seminole County hasn't E-mailed me back so I don't know where they're located at. Pretty bad service if you ask me . I guess I'll just have to find a different breeder. I found a pet shop that sells Sun Conures, Pionus, and Senegals so I'm going to check them out, but I wouldn't buy from a pet shop bad news!
