Taylor,

You are right to go and visit with as many birds as you can. You may find one that you never even considered before! there are soo many out there. Have you thought about checking your local animal shelter or trying to find a re-home? There are lots of birds out there, big birds too that need a new home. just a thought, if you are on a tight budget and want a larger bird.

I have a suggestion for you to look into also. I Princess of Wales Parakeet, aka- Princess Parrot. They are larger than a tiel. Mine is quieter than my tiel too. I've never heard any kind of loud screams from him, although he does chatter alot and is starting to talk. he say's "pretty bird" and is learning "hello".

I bought a baby from a local breeder. when he 1st came home, he'd sleep laying on my chest when I held him! He has been delightful! He is an explorer, so you'd have to keep a good eye on them! and loves to eat everything!

also, the Princess and tiels make great cage mates, so if you ever decided to get a tiel later on, they could live together!(usually) mine does great with my tiel, and I can't keep my budgies out of the big cage, so they are all together most of the day, but sleep seperate cages at the - budgie in 1 cage, the princess and tiel in another.

let me try and go find a few pics and a link foryou to look at some. Just to confuse your descion more!!!

Arrow Thank you!

Thank you for all your help! I have researched and looked and I have finally made up my mind. I will be getting a Sun Conure. I love their colors and their attitude. Even though people say they are loud I don't think they are. Once again thanks for ALL your help! I will be posting pictures and telling when I will be getting my Sun Conure.

It's great that you have decided on a sun, though maybe you haven't heard them yet! You might want to save up more money then so that you can get atleast a good sized cage which should set you back $130-$300 (depending on where you get the cage - Ebay is great!), and lots of toys (atleast 5 toys, costing $10-$25), perches, dishes (would be good to get 4-6), and be sure to have enough for a vet visit after all is said and done!
