Question inflamed nostril on my sun conure

Hi there guys,

I have just had my sun out with me for a while and while I had her on my hand I noticed that she had and inflamed nostril. this is not something I have ever noticed on her before, however, she does sneeze a little and likes to get her claw right in to her nose and scratch, it may very well be due to her scratching or there may be a couple of other things wrong with her. I thought I would ask you guys here what you think or if any of you with suns have encountered this before or any of you with another species for that matter.

Her right nostril is the inflamed one and the left nostril looks as if it is starting to become inflamed.
She is her chirpy ususal self, I just had her bite the skin inthe middle of my nose between my nostrils which bloody hurt and is nothing usual, however, if I do not see any improvement in her nostril or if her health starts deteriorating I will have her straight to the vet.

anyway, thanks for your input guys, let us know what you think.

In my opinion I would take your sun to the vet. I say this because I just had a similar experience with my parrotlet. He was rubbing his beak on everything he could find and his beak looked red underneath. I took him to the vet the next day and he found that he has a bacterial infection (caused from turning the heat on for the first time this season and apparently his cage was too close to that area). He is resting now and we have to keep him warm and he has 2 medications, but should be fine. He was rubbing and itching his beak because the infection was near there so that was the symptom that made us bring him to the vet. I guess it's really a judgement call on your part, you know your bird the best. Good luck!

Your sun may have a bacterial or fungal infection, and NEEDS to see an avian vet as soon as possible IF this is the case! It's not worth waiting it out and risking it! Take your sun to the vet NOW before he becomes really sick and needs IMMEDIATE help!
