Bathing Beauties

Alright, I love giving my birdies baths, known as "splashie, splashie, splashie?" Well, the answer is always yes, they love it too. The thing is, they hate the spray bottle. They only like a large casserole dish filled with water. It makes such a mess but I just can't resist providing it for them. I just wanted to know how many people actually use the spray bottle for bathtime...

My birds go to the shower about once a week. Immediately after going to the shower, my CAG always takes a bath in her water bowl. If Saturday rolls around and Hubby hasn't showered every birdy the CAG will take her own bath in the water bowl, but only on Saturdays? How does she know it's Saturday? LOL I've offered her a larger bowl of water so that she can do a proper bath but she'll have none of it.

Mine only love the spray bottle, and I have to have the vacuum running to get some of them to bathe!

The tiels like the spray bottle, I really should try Chaska in a sink or tub as she may want a more substantial bath.

I line my BGs in twos along a shower tension rod and turn on the spray. I have a hand held shower, so I can really soak them

My Quaker is afraid of the shower(too high) so I let her sit on the side of a bowl in the kitchen sink and use the faucet sprayer on her.

My greys both shower together like the macaws, but also jump into their water bowls when I return them to their cages.

My Ekkie loves the shower and would live in there. I have to turn the water off and come back for her about 10 minutes later.

My Amazon likes a good shower, but is real glad when its over.

I have never had a bird here that hates the shower, including my boarder birds.

I use the spray bottle in the shower. Sam's the only one who really seems to enjoy it; with the other two, it's more like they're enduring something unpleasant.

All my birds will bathe in their water dishes if the mood suits them. However, I haven't been able to get any of them to bathe in an actual BATH dish when it was provided... which is why I mist them in the shower at least once a week.

Ollie bathes in the kitchen sink. I take her in there with me when i'm preparing her meals, so if she wants a bath (usually about 2 a week) she'll just start attacking the running water with her wings held out from her sides. This means warm the water up momma, I want in! She absolutely loves the sprayer thing (does it have a name?) I think she thinks she's at a water park. I've never tried a squirt bottle, but I use one on my kitten when he's in trouble...so I dont want her to put 2 and 2 together and think its a bad thing!

I put my 2 CAGS in the tub, pull the the plug and turn on the shower so they can get their feet nice and clean while the water fills in the tub. My Maximillian also goes in with them.

Abbie, my CAG, gets a shower with the sprayer (very gently) in the kitchen sink. She hates every other way I have tried. This works best.
She also will bathe in her water dish about once a week. However, she just gets her head and chest wet, then stamps her little birdy feets in it.
She asks for a shower, then doesn't like the actual shower itself, but goes on a long talking jag with lots of whistling and laughing afterwards!
What goes through that little birdy brain? :o)

My bird bathes in his water dish. AND - his water dish is not that big. It just looks like a lot of work to me. He is cramped up in a corner and has to take a long time - because he wants to completely soak himself.

He likes being misted also.

But he won't bath in his cage in the larger water dish I put in there. And, he doesn't seem too crazy about being in the sink with running water. In fact, I don't think he even likes it.

I'm a bath person - so it looks like he won't be taking any showers with me.

I guess I'll just have to keep on working with him.
