Jake's New Palace!

Okay ... so this is it. The cage I mentioned a while back. The bar spacing seems to be okay, although it wasn't really 3/4 of an inch as they advertised. It's more like 7/8. It came with gigantic heavy duty plastic bowls (about 5" diameter and 3" deep) which I was afraid Jake might get lost in, so I transferred the 20 oz bowls from his old cage with some rigging. I didn't install the playtop, because the tray blocks out light. That little speck in the pictures is Jake. He seems to like it. He's all over the thing. Sometimes he loses his footing on the bottom. I wound up settling the price at $125 NIB. What do you think?

good

I think that was a very good price.

I think I have the same cage for my quaker, but with a different lock on the front. I love the cage but the quaker has taken off the front door, one of the food bowl doors on the back. So mine now looks a bit different because I got BIG hardware on it now he he.

I am sure your Jake will love it!! I just put my own playtop on top the cage, instead of the one that came with.

did the playtop on Jakes cage come with a slid-out tray? maybe you could mount it without the tray being in? I ask because when I got Jasper his new house, the tray on the playtop of his slides out. but he kind of prefers the tray there. its sort of a security thing for him, like nothing can get him from above I guess you could say.

It does have the slide out tray, but Jake likes to hang from the bars at the top. Will he still be able to do that? And I'm still trying to figure out what to do with these bowls! Anyone know where I can get decent sized bowls for a Senegal at a good price? The problem I'm having is with the horizontal bars where the feeder doors are. Anything I have isn't big enough to mount on them. And those mounts for the giant bowls that came with it are just too ridiculous! Lol ... thank you all for your comments. Kristy - how on earth was a Quaker able to do that? These bars are thick!

screws

Oh he doesn't bust the bars, just unscrews stuff. See the screw at the bottom of the door, he unscewed it, then the door can push out!! I know it doesn't look like it can be taken out, but he has done it..more than once ~ now I have a bolt stuck in there. He will then go on the outside of the cage and swing open the food doors, toss stuff. It's a mess. I haven't had any escapes lately thankfully.

I think my quaker can still hang from the top with the pan in there.

I just left the big bowls in there, my guys don't mind BIG bowls. Only issue is the tiel as she will sit in hers.

Jake is gonna think he is paradise with all sorts of room to play :)

The cage looks great! My birds have big bowls like that and they don't mind in the least. My sennie loves to lay on his back in the bowl when he's playing. When he gets down in there, you can only see his tail sticking out!

Very nice cage at a great price! My Zazu (TAG) has a playtop on his with the sliding tray which he prefers and yes he can still hang upside down inside it. I like to keep the tray on top makes cleaning a little easier otherwise he'd be pooping on his inside toys.

even with the tray in the top, Jasper can still do the one toe hang, or the beak dangle if he prefers. hasn't stopped the big guy yet!
